Or it could just be the notorious starter clutch shattered and jammed up around the flywheel etc. It did suddenly seize when he was trying to start it. And without taking anything apart I'm unsure how he could come to the rear cylinder broken ring conclusion.
Never had one jam like that, and didn't know it was an option Simon, I think it would just "steamroller" on through wouldn't it? Usual fail is failure to turn engine accompanied by oil smoke puffing from front of fuel tank.

Buyer beware, IME, John Reynolds’ race bike, as it was raced, it is most likely not. The lister’s description has inconsistencies and the bike clearly has history of use post purchase from the race team. Be interested to see how much someone is actually prepared to bid, my guess is probably not meeting the reserve. Andy

It's not just lack of paint - there's serious Alu corrosion in a few places after only 1500mls (maybe 1500mls of beach riding!). Oh, and description says 'green frame' - WFT!
