I’m considering this 996 Bip. I’d welcome the opinion of the cognoscenti. The wheel paint appears somewhat garish. I’ve spotted the steering damper, the (awful) iridium screen, the handgrips and the heel plates. What else have I missed, please? https://www.prestonmotorcycles.co.uk/used-motorcycle/ducati-996-biposto-1999-50572
The Hyper Pro steering damper is a significantly better damper than stock, if you can accept the Hyper Pro purple. The rear sprocket is trashed so probably front sprocket and chain as well. The carbon chain guard is missing a triangular, steel bracket that strengthens the upright part. Dzus fairing fasteners were not, IIRC, black. The rear brake lever looks like it has been scuffed. Not sure what the carbon look levers are or the bar ends and as for the frame plugs, open clutch cover and alternate red and yellow clutch spring caps The quality of the pictures leave a lot to be desired but the exhaust mid pipe does not look like 45/50mm nor does the carbon exhaust pipe diameter look 50mm but I could be wrong. Part service history and mileage put it £1500 over priced IMO. Andy
The owner’s colour choice is certainly not mine! But a relatively easy remedy. Confirmation of rear sprocket is gratefully received, as is the missing brace on the sprocket cover. Thanks. Haggling yet to come. My biggest concern is the veracity of the 50mm exhaust plus matching EPROM.
For me, it’s the wheels color that make my eyes bleed the most… It should be exactly like the frame (champagne/bronze), and not this mustard yellow horror… I know it comes down to personal tastes, but a proper respray costs some money too. At least, it has correct 1999 996 3 spokes wheels. Speaking of which, shouldn’t the rear wheel have « Ducati Racing » showing like 916s did? Looks like Mostro or ST type wheels…
From what I can read, I’d agree. Seems that ‘99 996s had plain ones, although the wheels on this one are pretty mustardy!
It could be that the checkered pattern is made of stickers...so it would only need the wheels repainting...keep the screen as a statement
Annoyingly, the dealer isn’t prepared to budge either on trade in value or sale price! Only the second time I’ve encountered such dogmatic attitude
