I am sure someone must have come across this before, but I can't seem to find a post. I have a 1995 900SS which I bought as a half finished project. I am getting towards the end, however when coming to bleed the front brakes, I have found that the master cylinder is not pumping. I have dismantled it, and the seals are u/s. I know that Brembo / Ducati don't want you to rebuild them, but there must be a kit somewhere surely. Any ideas before I lash out on a new master cylinder?
Not entirely sure the exact master cylinder is fitted but is this any good? If you know it's part number do a search on that. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115092093893
Thanks. I think it is a 16mm kit I need. The piston measures 15.7mm. I am struggling to find a part number
Christy Is there anything stamped or cast on underside of master cylinder perhsps a number 15. This may not apply but have seen in a search the PS15 master cylinder has a 16mm or rather 5/8" bore. Do a bit more research before spending dosh. Also make sure the bore is OK. I was going to buy a new seal kit ( which aren't exactly cheap) for my clutch. I polished the bore up with wet and dry only to find it was pitted. I put the £40 ish towards a new clutch master cylinder. I would take it to bits and make sure the components look like parts in any listings you find. Cheers Gaz
Thanks Gaz. The bore looks ok This is a pic of the stamp. It has 16 at the end, so I assume it’s PS16
Sorry I assumed (never assume) it had the integrated reservoir (coffin type). Sorry I don't have any experience with these. I would strip and compare the parts to any listing or give cornerspeed or moto rapido a call. Cheers Gaz
Christy, I have also come across this with my bikes. Brembo, as far as I know do not do a kit for the PS16. This is the coffin style Im talking about. I got a new master for about £130. The rear brakes, and the clutch, which is 13mm you can get. With regards the kit on ebay linked above, I would be checking that it looks identical to your own before purchase. In the end I upgraded to a Brembo RCS. I also have a brand new master for my Cagiva build cause the PS16, for some reason is not catered for in the same way for rebuilds
You could try Motoworks in Holmfirth I bought a calliper rebuild kit from them it may well be the also do MC kits too? I read a while back that Brembo don’t encourage you to rebuild brake parts due to issues they had in N America. https://www.motorworks.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q= Brembo Master cylinder repair kit&find=r-series-r1150-r1150gs--09-1999---08-2003--178
When I was in the same situation with my M900 I gave up in the end and bought a new set of master cylinders as I just couldn't find the parts
