  1. Hi guys, first track day for me next week at Combe. Curious of other peoples experience. It’s a 105 limit curious if people have had issues with this before??

My 996 I would say is louder than my 916, 50mm termis with titanium cans?

  2. Castle Combe have their very method for noise testing. Not entirely sure but I think the intransigent tester from hell is no longer there. My Multistrada 1200 with an Arrow decat plus baffle was too close to call but I was let on. That could have been because the whole day was our club. Sadly Castle Combe is under the local council’s thumb with all the NIMBY’s that have moved into new houses built in the area (don’t get me started ) and their future as a race track hangs in the balance, hence the strict enforcement. A bit late I know but if you can get a pair of baffles, it should alleviate any issue. Fingers crossed. Andy

  3. 105 sounds very high for there. They used to (don’t know if still do) measure at 3/4 revs. A lot of standard new bikes can’t make the limit

  4. Nice bike btw.

  5. It was 105 the last time I went 2or 3 years ago. Can't remember if it was 3/4 revs but don't think so. Andy

  6. It’s been 3/4 as long as I can remember. And 105 at that point is probably 95 at ACU rules!

  7. STRICT 105db(A), which is measured at ½ metre from the exhaust outlet at ¾ of maximum revs.

    Doom website

  8. If it 105 limit early 916 996 bikes will be fine, my 853sps was 99 without baffles

  9. At 7500 revs?? My multi wouldn’t pass in standard form, a gixer 600/750 from k7 onwards won’t either

  10. rich runs 996 etc round there so must be possible but suspect heavily baffled

  11. Usually flat out mate o_O

  12. They do still measure at 3/4th revs literally about 30 bloody cm from the exhaust. Although my mates 748r did hey on there with 50mm termis, it was 105.8 though, but they let him on.

just after we went through testing, some old boy who’s clearly known to them took a Norton thing with megaphone exhausts on it which was literally unsilenced, and it was a rather causal noise test for him…. Which is what p*sees me off about castle Combe

  13. Oh… and it’s a crap circuit… again, controversial

  16. I took this little puppy to the Combe in 2019. Two blokes on noise (one on the decibel meter, the other on clip board duty) wanted 3/4 revs and she failed the 102 limit.

Then they smelt the Castrol R and a fail became a pass……..

    She then won a trophy.

I bought a lotto ticket on the way home and won the jackpot :sob:
Ok that bit isn’t true :p

  18. Not sure if anyone has posted this as I’ve seen first post only.

    I’ve been on CC’s website.

Noise is 105db at a distance of half a metre at 3/4 of max revs.

Prior checks can be discussed via email:

  20. Ah! Glad you had fun but I must have been wrong when I said there wasn’t much worse than riding around castle Combe, turns out riding around a wet castle Combe is!

each to their own and all that and glad you got through testing and out on track
