I'm seeing bikes with 3 spokes in gold, 3 spokes in silver and 5 spokes in silver, all matching their associated frame colour. Are they all OE or not? Is there a definitive sequence of what was on which MY?
Surprised no one has posted on this, I maybe wrong, but I always thought that 1999 was the 3 spoke gold wheels and gold frame and 2000-2001 was 5 spoke silver wheels and silver frame. Someone may correct this.... (Never seen standard gold 5 spoke as these are usually gold mag wheels)
Perhaps a provocative post, but I always felt the 916 iterations looked better with 5 spokes. The 3 spokes seem so "of their time"
I think it's different between models. I thought the 1999 996 models were gold frame gold wheels and from 2000 they were silver frame silver wheels. The 748 models used the silver frames and gold wheels in the 2000s I'm pretty sure. Knowing Ducati they probably used whether they had lying around on the shelf.
So would three spokes in silver be non OE? Perhaps someone who preferred 3 spokes and got a pair of gold wheels and had them repainted?
