Probably opening a can of worms here but....you shouldnt really have to....my old 2009 RSV4 factory is probably the best ive had re corrosion...in that theres none...my z which gets used year round... (im on it today and its pissing down, the roads have salt on them) everything that can be unbolted has been cerakoted or powder coated....all good. Going back to Ducati (2nd only to KTM) - ive had stuff in the fridge thats lasted longer than some of the coatings...yeah i expect corrosion but not at the speed of Ducati's poster paint coatings...case in point....a monster out on demo at Ducati Bristol - less than 300 miles and the bolts had all gone chalky....thats fucking shit....going back to my RSV the majority of the bolts on it....all stainless...or coated and they havent corroded...no corrosion on the sump..nothing...engine block is also fine...
Annual service light. Fuck right off. Flaking engine paint. Every duke I've owned has suffered. Other than that, nowt.
Yep - pre engine seizing up the front barrel on mine looked like it had been dipped in a swamp for a week before being fitted...the prices your paying these days for a mid to high end sports bike....everything should be cerakoted - no fucking excuses...
Going back to corrosion, I have had the pleasure of removing the upper fairings on a 23 plate multi with 500 miles on the clock. The push fittings holding the fairings together were all rusty as hell and would be crumbling in a year or so. Discs rusty and chain like an anchor chain. On a 23k bike....
Take that back to the dealer then. Make them pay and replace all the parts, then treat it once they've finished. I'm sorry, but rust on a bike that's done 500 miles to that level is unacceptable, and this is on the V4?
at the moment the fact that its in the garage, i can hear it calling , calling, take me out, which i do, but honestly the last good blatt must have been back in october when the weather was still fare
On reflection, my top Ducati niggle is them constantly launching bikes I can’t live without. I’ll have 3 in a few weeks, with virtually no time to ride the buggers, seeing as our weather is so shite. Oh, and the novelty of sleeping in the spare room as a result of these purchases is getting rather annoying now.
Yeah... They'll put the same shit on there.... That's the point... My old 2009 v4 has the original stuff on there... It was good quality shit in the first place.!
I see this on Twitter quite a bit thought it might spark some gentle discussion ;p I’ll start with an oldie but a goldie, dry clutches sound like a bag of rusty old spanners.
