Now it’s been a few years since I was last on the island, now if my memory serves correctly you had to purchase a phone package ? Is it still the same or is it can you use your phone and data etc just like your on the mainland?
i have a shite contract (cheap) that means text, data and call limits overseas, IOM included, they will text you when you arrive what you can and cant do and what it costs. went last year, calls are ok but i think i switched data off and only used wifi,
If you have a newish phone with a built in 'esim'... before you depart you can purchase online an esim for whatever country you are visiting. Scan in the QR Code for your new esim and activate it just before departure, then run with that on arrival. Remember to switch off the data on your other sim. Happy travels! Can you guys not just pay an additional £10 (for a month) on top of your contract - to enable decent roaming ? That is what I do when going away, and it gives something like 5 GB of roaming data use. I can go onto my account online and do it - or phone the company and they put it on for me. Just remember to cancel it when returning home. Luckily for us in the Channel Islands we have the same provider as they have in the IoM - Sure - so the roaming part is the bit in between - England !
Try £5 per day roaming charges from most UK mainstream providers, not £10 per month..... Good idea earlier about buying an eSim before you go.
Radical idea...... Ask your mobile phone service provider and get an answer specific to your phone contract and terms.
Cheap ass Voxi contract here as well....that being said that usually every year we go over they (the mobile operators) tend to give a bit more data each year...
