Insurance Who To Use?

  1. Ok so 57 , and been away from biking for long time, license 15yrs , no claims bonus is zero
I have just bought a 749 , who’s good/cheap for insurance, the bike has the Ducati immobiliser but I haven’t got anything else atm , would this reduce my quotes ?

  2. Experiences are very varied, as you will if you use the forum search function. Some current quotes seem to be ridiculously expensive and then someone will get a very competitive quote. No rhyme or reason. See if you can find a broker who uses Ageas, as their underwriter seems one of the better ones. Andy

  3. You could try Footman James. If your bike is 20 years old (or older) they do great classic insurance which is usually much more reasonable than a modern bike policy. All security related stuff is worth mentioning when getting quotes, alarm, immobiliser, brick garage, ground anchor...what ever you got...

  4. So checked my license and it’s 21 yrs since I passed
373 fully comp is my best so far , 240 tpft
Regards security, on the insurance site they list tons of items , is there a cheap product that gets a better discount , I don’t even know what half the items are ?

  5. Re:security... you'll probably find some useful information on security equipment on this site, and take note of whats recommended. Brands like Kryptonite, Oxford gold... are often on the insurance providers database, so perhaps consider those.
I’d suggest fitting a sturdy ground anchor and high quality lock/chain, regardless of whether or not it provides a further discount on your insurance.
    Good luck

  6. Regardless of if it drops my insurance, I like the look of the pragmasis round lock

  7. seems reasonable to me, i paid £330 for a panigale, but i paid a lump, my mate pays similar for an MV dragster

BEmoto did sweet FA for me, i think £700

  8. Benoit couldn’t quote due to me having no no claims bonus

  9. Have moved thread to insurance

  10. Sorry my bad didn’t realise

  11. Am I right in thinking you forfeit your no claims if you enter a second year with classic insurance?

  12. It's ok :) good job I keep an eye on you all

  13. A couple of year back I insured a extra bike. I said I had full no claims bonus but after having done the deal and paying, I realised I didn't as it was a extra bike for which I didn't have a free contract. I rang them back to explain and expected to pay a hefty price.
The new price without any no claims was £8 less compared to full no claims. There seems to be no rule or reason that I can see to insurance prices.

  14. Hmmm... I haven’t had any issues with 'no claims' related stuff. I've found Footman James classic insurance be a lot cheaper than what it costs for a more modern bike. They do factor in the insurance cost on your estimated annual milage, which seems fair to me. If you have a 20 year old (plus) bike(s), it's worth getting a quote from them when you next need insurance.

  15. 15 years for classics. At least with Peter James and a few others. Not sure about Footman James. My newest is 2008 and has been on my classic policy since last year.

  16. Check a coupe of comparison sites and go with the best quote for the first year then next year you will have a years no claims and a lot more options.

  17. Bought ins £363 fully comp , will do for now

  18. Just to add - I've used A Plan Specialist Division Thatcham for many (odd!) vehicles in the past. Now as Howden they've just come in at £197 (Ageas) for my 900SS Bevel with an agreed value of £35K, this is a good reduction from last year when they used Marker Study. Not often you can say you paid less than last year these days!

  19. My flabber is well and truly ghasted
