Was thinking about upgrading my 996s subframe to an aluminium mono one, Is there any other options other than second hand?
you can buy them from a few sources in Italy. carbon4us for example. its a replica of the original and has decent reviews. they are only 300 quid. much better than the silly prices a few certain ebay sellers are asking!
I love how some people act like they have something akin to the Dead Sea Scrolls in their possession just because the part comes from a bike of a certain vintage..
There is a guy in Holland who's started to supply them. Here is a link. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/8FsosQk9EmnjedLk/ His first batch sold out quickly but he's having more made/making more.
If you are after a factory one, then second hand is the only way to go, as they are no longer available to order. Pierobon Frames in Italy who used to produce and supply them to Ducati back in the day, used to sell them independently until very recently (but I read somewhere that Ducati caught up on them and I doubt they still do; worth looking them up). The subframes made by the very reliable and knowledgeable Dutchman that has been quoted above are indistinguishable in terms of colour and welding appearance from the factory ones and sold at a fair price.
