This was yesterday actually … Had a nice ride out in the chilly sunshine, Yafforth, Bedale and on to Thirsk to Teasdale motorcycles for a mooch around the shiny things. Anyhow, when I got there the car park was heaving, I didn’t know but apparently it was an open day, chuck wagon there was doing free coffee’s and absolutely lovely crepes.. So I had to have a cappuccino and a yummy “bannoffie “ crepe, voluntary donations to the air ambulance, so having had a ride from them in the past I made a decent donation Test rides were in and out all afternoon ( one guy lobbed one apparently ) but I didn’t bother as I’m allergic to Orange beasties ! So I leave there and head along the A170 to Helmsley with the intention of riding the TT over to Stokesley on the way home, all going well along the TT, not much traffic so I was “ making progress” until I got to Chop Gate, just past there the road was completely closed with emergency vehicles,..lots of them, it didn’t look good, pushed my way to the front, as you do, and asked a young lady paramedic what the situation was, she reckoned that the road would be closed for quite some time, so I spun around and went back over the top by Lordstones, a nice 120 miles. Anyone local know what happened?? I just hope whoever was involved was okay, from where I was I couldn’t see if it was a biker, cars or what ??
Took the streetfighter out for its inaugural run on the HelmsleyTT. I think it's going to be a bit naughty. But it must use petrol as a secondary coolant as its consumption is appalling.
Put the air box, battery and steering damper back on the Monster. Tomorrow is another go at fixing the headlight issue.
I made it rain by taking a short ride to Port Patrick - started as I got to the end of my road and just got heavier until I returned home an hour later, then the sun came out to mock me.
Washed my M821 and MTS 1200 GT adjusted the chain tension on the MTS for the first time - took me about 20 mins as red thread lock had been used on the three rear hugger - is this normal? people were worried about my M821 front wheel and if I’d got it on right. Did 130 miles yesterday and it was all good.
Today I have removed the (somewhat swollen) tank from the S2r as it wasn't starting. Seems like the pump has given up so I am after a replacement (I'm not on ebay) if anyone has a reference / supplier for one that might be able to deliver this week. . The inside of the tank was remarkably clean, which was nice...
It was a good day... 1. Fitted new gear linkage to z1ooo. Gearbox feels like new. 2. Took winter tyres off the zed... Supercorsas that I took off last year.. Back on. 3. Did tappet adjustment on 4oo/4 4. Removed bearings from rsv4 swing arm for coating... Got a 2nd hand swingarm from a 2018 tuono11oo as they're longer. 5. Fitted new alarm bell box to the garage.
Yesterday. After getting various jobs done, including a rather stressful driving lesson with Boy No.1, I got my kit on for the first time this year (leathers have shrunk again over the winter) and pushed the bike onto the driveway. Cue flat battery. Marvellous. Hopefully get out next weekend...
It was on the tickle charger. It wasn’t turned on, but the bike was connected to it! Every member of the GC household denied turning it off, but I have my suspicions.
Finally took the 1199 off the bike trailer after picking it up post Laguna Seca Into the cellar she goes!
Being on the trailer or in the cellar, trailer maybe, cellar ? No, her sisters are all in there, like some sort of pleasure dungeon
