Hi, I have what I think are the M4 calipers, pic below, and what seems to be an aftermarket mastercylinder and lever, although it might be the original but with a new cap, pic also below ... either way its a bit woeful, what would you lot recommend changing the master cylinder and lever for? Brembo, HEL, Accosato ?
I've fitted a hel to my now sold gixer track bike along with calipers and gpfax pads. Awesome set up. Just fitted a hel master and lines to my new to me v4 track bike. Also Awesome, but I don't think you'll be disappointed with any of them
Those are not M4 calipers. Also, from what you say about the performance, the branding on the master cylinder is somewhat incorrect. Perhaps install some real M4 calipers and a proper radial master cylinder - you’d need one with mirror mounting provision though. If you want to keep things cheap by fitting second hand - try some radial 4 pad calipers (from 999 era) and maybe a master cylinder from a M1100 (which has mirror provision) - this is what I have on my old M1100S and it’s pretty acceptable.
I thought the same as @RickyX, that the caliper isn’t an M4 and certainly it doesn’t look anything like my 2008 ex 1098R M4 caliper but on further investigation, it could well be the M4 of the time with 4 x 32mm pistons. The reservoir cap may be just that, an aftermarket cap. Using a Brembo RCS on the Monster 937 instead of the OE with integrated self bleeding (bleeding horrible ) reservoir, transformed the braking. You’ll need custom lines if I recall correctly. I did the M4 upgrade on my Hyper a few years back Ah just read the original post, they are not M4’s what you have
