Arguably because the Öhlins is adjustable and perceived as a better product, when the situation arises that the steering damper is needed, yes. In practical terms, for the majority of riders who don’t put themselves at the performance level where a steering damper is essential, probably not. It’s the same with a slipper clutch, not every rider is going to put themselves in the situation where the rear wheel is going to lock up on down shifting. Horses for courses Andy
