  1. I agree, sadly with the world the way it is, there are a few diabolical examples that would slot straight in. Might even give humanity a chance to wind the Doomsday clock back a bit

  4. A new CD arrived this morning which is possibly one of his last recordings; Going Home by Mark Knopfler’s Guitar Heroes, a re-recording of the tune from Local Hero for the Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America. From the sleeve notes;

    “That’s the real payoff, other guitar players coming up and telling me I influenced them, like Jimmy Page or Mark or whoever. It just blows my mind and it makes me feel warm and good that I did something that was appreciated by and helpful to other guitar players and artists. You can’t buy that.”

    Thanks for your inspiration Duane, rest in peace.

  8. Roger Corman didn't quite manage the ton. Passing - or ushering out, *hem* *hem* - of a serious chapter of movie history. And for those of us of a certain age.

  9. Dabney Colman kicks the bucket. Apparently he was in Tootsie, but I never saw that, not finding cross dressing remotely amusing. I remember him mostly from WarGames. And being called Dabney.

    Re Duane Eddy - still in the space-time continuum - his stuff along with The Shadows that I heard a lot as a nipper is almost certainly why I learnt guitar (and buy Gretschs).
