    • Thanks Thanks x 1

  1. Has always been the way in cycling AFAIK.
The cameras are closer to the action than is the case with motorcycle racing as they are moving through the race live and not static as they are at a track.

  2. My sisters flights back from Ireland were delayed so I got to spend the whole day in front of the tour of flanders.
    Wow.
No pog or wva but a sensational race all the same. Had everything you could ask for pretty much lol.
Worth watching highlights if you missed it.

  5. Paris Roubaix on Saturday! Looking forward to that and should be un-interrupted coverage on E/S too. Shame theres been so many horrible crashes over the "cobble season", imagine MVDP will start as firm favorite again.

Currently watching Vingy Pog and Remco in the Basque Tour so they wont be there. Pog took 15 secs out of Vingy in the opening TT yesterday :astonished:, so the tdf not a foregone conclusion just yet!

  6. Anything can happen on the Pave sections as they’re fairly isolated from their support cars.

They’ll obviously hoping for a dry race, we did every time we went over to ride it before race day.
Worth popping over if you have the inclination. The teams will be scouting out the sections and the hardcore fans will be parking their campers/cars in the best places days before the race.

Hopefully we’ll see another solo breakaway……

  7. Awful crash today. Looked like one rider in the peloton slid out on a pretty innocuous looking right hander and the rest just got target fixation. Unfortunately there was a concrete ditch on the edge of the road and a couple of riders ended up in it (incl Vingy) and a few ran head first into large boulders. Vingy Roglic Remco all went down and Jay Vine fast tracked to hospital (amongst others).
They cancelled the stage for the peloton but instructed the breakaway to continue bizarrely.

  8. At one point today, the helicopter was following the ambulances and eurosport were covering it live.
"There he goes, racing to the hospital for potentially life saving surgery" etc...
    Grim as fuck.

  9. For the first time I can ever remember I enjoyed the womens version of a sporting event more than the men’s this weekend.

The women’s Paris roubaix yesterday was epic the men’s has been a bit of a sideshow once mvdp got bored and cleared off with 40 odd k to go.
Women’s race went down to the velodrome if you haven’t seen it.
    Superb.

On a side note I’d like to know what’s happened to ineos grenadiers since the start of the season. One gifted stage win so far (which came in the basque tour yesterday!) Not a great return on their investment.
Tarling disqualified today for “a sticky bottle“ too lol what a great expression.

  11. Pidcock wins the Amstel Gold Race for the second time.
Some achievement considering the strength of the field (incl MVDP who was dropped).
    24 years old :astonished:

  12. Giro starts today!!
Pog odds on favourite absolutely no money there.
Going each way on Arsensman and Dani Martinez.
    Enjoy :)

  13. Cav won a sprint in the tour of Hungary today.
Not exactly a GC win but good signs for TDF.

…on another note we love you in this house Orla but you look like a new character in the Beano lol

  14. I have my fingers crossed that Cav gets that stage win when he reaches the TdF

My other fingers are crossed that Geraint can use his wiles to beat Pog’s talent in the Giro. It looks unlikely, I know, but there’s a long way to go yet.

  15. Absolutely ridiculous TT from the Pog today, all done and dusted barring crashes.
Chapeau to him too, the lads an absolute animal.

  16. He is. But do you think he can recover sufficiently from the Giro in time for the TdF? Perhaps he’s the one person who can … ?

  17. Great mountain stage in the Giro today. Bardet had six minutes on the peloton/Pog at one point.
Got beaten on the line by his fellow frenchman who "idolised him growing up".
Tears ensued (not mine of course).
    Chapeau.

    Standings after todays stage;
