An enjoyable 100 miles meandering through the Hampshire countryside today. An odd occurrence whilst out, I was being followed by a high performance BMW for about 10 miles which seemed odd as I was behaving (well, mostly behaving ) when I got physically blocked by some dumb cluck pulling across the white line as I prepared to overtake in a national. The car that had been following me suddenly lit up like a Christmas tree, made noise and overtook me and the car in front and pulled the driver in. I stopped too but got waved on by the traffic officer and I watched the driver getting a serious finger wagging in my mirror as I made my way Karma is a wonderful thing. Andy
Bought some metal tech rearsets for a 1098, even though I don’t have a 1098…. Think I will cad up some offset plates and put them on the radical.
Taxed the 899 and dusted her off for a ride out, got back and a fork seal has blown spectacularly spraying the side of the bike with oil. Anyone know what weight oil the 899 has as standard so I can get it ordered?
Fitted the new custom sticker I had made from the Image Works. Finished the Termi system rebuild off nicely.
Calculated the mpg for the tank of fuel I’ve just used on the Mutley V4s. 34mpg & that included some miles in minimal throttle as it was pisswet through & freezing!! They are thirsty girls .
Today I have sorted my toolkit for the bike. I've trimmed it down. Now it fits under the seat of the 1098 and the 748 I have a pare reg/rec for the 748 which also fits under the seat The spare mosfet for the 1098 is now bolted to the bracket where the exhaust flap solenoid used to be along with a power supply for my phone sat nav etc
I might put a for sale ad on here if anyone is serious. Needs the vertical cylinder repaired and a piston kit but I’m done with chucking anymore money at it.
Ran over a dead badger, which was a surprise! Just carried on - fortunately no gore was transferred...
Continued to recalibrate my brain on the streetfighter. Not impressed with 11.1 litres to refill after the light came on, I would be interesting to see what sort of range the V4r multistradas are getting. Consumption is averaging 35 mpg running in
Did the fork seals on the 899 with a dodgy hanging from a beam set up. BPF are piss easy to do I didn’t even have to remove them from the bike.
Washed the Scrambler and the li'l Zed, both were filthy after 10 days of intermittent drizzle and rain. Cleaned and lived the chains. Both good to go. Not CdE condition, but CE2R (clean enough to ride). From the weather forecast it seems to have been a wasted effort as next week is more of the same...
Popped over to the Sports bike shop in Leeds and treated myself to a Denali sound bomb mini for the Diavel. Made up with it fitting in exactly the same spot the old horn was with zero modifications.
