  1. Trail riding in the mountains to one of the very few know arch ways in the Great Wall of China approx. 85k's from the Beijing....[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  2. Chinese food at trout farm and restaurant near the Mutanyiu Great Wall section after the arch way trail ride....[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  3. Well, really hope the government powers refrain from turning the great mountain ranges and grasslands around the greater Beijing region into the "big modern city dream".......[IMG][IMG]

  4. Very nice. Roads look pristine. I know China's been upgrading their infrastructure in the last decade or more. Heard horror stories about their driving, but guess that's more in the built-up areas.

Do you work/live there? Sure know your way around! Food making me hungry.

  5. Spot on, driving skills are very low over here and lets not talk about the traffic in the cities, especially Beijing, getting worse year by year....
Well after 24+ years in China and many different motorbikes know my way around thats for sure and have been almost everywhere for business and pleasure, Mt.Kailash (Tibet) is still on my bucket-list but will get there eventually....

  6. Great collection.I spent two months in Beijing and Xinjiang in the winter of 81/82. It has changed a bit.

  7. wish had time, money and balls to do that. nice one.

  8. Coming back from Northern Scotland, must say the roads are perfect! Will need at least someone who speaks the local lingo to go there.

Good thing we have TBR here. We'll have to trouble him to provide some routes and hangouts.

I have a friend in Shanghai and he goes around on his scooter. Always inviting me to join him. Maybe can get tips from Mo Horizons. THere's something about London to Beijing posted on James Cargo's website.

Seriously guys, we Multi riders have to do more with out bikes. Look at the events BMW have. I know, they are more established etc. Still we could do stuff ourselves.

I travelled with a fellow Multi rider. It is a sight to behold on the road. Very stylish way to travel. Capable bike too.

Forgot to add, only stylish if its red ones....

  9. I think I'll order the roast beef, please, with the roast potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and Yorkshire pudding. Oh and I'd like a knife and fork please.

  10. Quick lap around the famous Tianamen Square in Beijing before packing and saying goodbye to Capital City Beijing....[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  11. The MTS arrived back in Shanghai by overnight truck shipment from Beijing, a few weeks of B+B (business and biking) went by in a flash (riding distance = 1x Pirelli Scorpion Trail 190/55ZR17 -rear tire-, approx. 6000k's extensively twisting the throttle). The Italian Diva performed great and flawless (besides two rear wheel punctures sorted out quickly with on the road repairs, herewith big thumbs up to the very convenient plug & go / sticky rope tire repair kits).MTS = absolute brilliant bike and will get a lot of TLC incl. a decent wash and polish in the next few days thats for sure....Had a blast around the greater Beijing region going for afternoon rides, overnight trips and full day cruises on the expressways (gets you out of the city and the touristy areas pretty quick, fully legal and very convenient) to the brilliant mountain roads and the beautiful grasslands.....Enjoyed catching up with quite a few old mates and made a few interesting new contacts in the Beijing biker community and planning a longer stay up in Capital City later in the year once again.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  15. Sunday early morning ride along the Great Canal passing through Liantang Town, in the Qingpu District of Shanghai (China) over into Jiangsu province and back via Diashan Lake. Very nice and pleasant weather without the high humidity....

To answer the questions via PM's, the Ducati MTS transport pallet used for the truck shipment within China. Wood pallet (20mm marine plywood / 1500 x 2500mm with angle steel bar re-enforcments) was build to my own design by our carpenter, had a few stainless steel plates (3mm / 100 x 100mm) cut as backing plates for the 12mm stainless steel bolts and eyelets. Using a Pitbull Trailer Restraint for the rear with additional ratchet straps to secure the front fork and stop from flopping around, got high quality CargoBuckles now for future bike transport. Pretty easy job lifting the wooden pallet with the bike strapped onto and off trucks with fork-lifts and the bike sits rock solid in the truck and the wooden pallet is secured with ratchet straps to the truck sidewall rails.

  17. Brilliant. Have decided that my European trips are decidedly tame. You have inspired me to try to rope mates into a trip further afield.
