Shortish bimble today. Along the Bittern Trail from Avalon Marshes in Somerset. Some pleasant riding alongside the canal some bird watching albeit a bit tricky riding along the canal with the Leica 8x32s to one’s eyes and trying not to ride into the canal at the same time.
..I was supposed to be going out for a very short test ride as previously playing up, but ended up doing 14 miles as was so much fun. I'd taken for granted just how much fun when the bike and tyres fit your riding style. Shwalbe Marathon Plus 27.5 x 1.5. I got more of a buzz today than I did yesterday doing ### mph on a motorbike.
many things maybe, there's a total freedom to choose your route off-road, no-one to tell you what path to adhere to, so it can be a new undiscovered route with no traffic or burdens. Maybe more/different endorphines/adrenaline get triggered because of the physical exercise?
I was thinking about this whilst pedaling along yesterday just as a matchy, matchy club peloton went by me. I'm no performance, VO2 max obsessed cyclist, I eventually concluded that I'm a heady mix of Judith Chalmers, Buddha and Friedrich Nietzsche, yes that's me that is.... AKA, creaking ole git on a bike...
Freedom possibly the missing ingredient when motorcycling with added endorphins from whatever exertion you added whilst cycling. Ah I see lower down in the reply’s we agree.
Used to like riding in a group but became bored when certain elements with differing targets joined the club, it was time for me to ride solo there after or with a chosen few.
I know what you mean, those group rides look quite stressful, "car", "hole", "worm sign"...fook dat. I ride on my own, although I have a couple of gym buddies that have recently got into it. They're keen to go out together including a trip to the IOW in the summer.
Just over 19 miles on the not so flat bits of Lincolnshire with my mate yesterday. So nice to have a dry surface and be a bit too warm on the climbs.
That’s my cycle area too. Picture 2 looks our over Leeds Castle if you know where to look, To get to your location in the photo you’d have probably cycled passed my place, roads are horrendous aren’t they?
Three rides today, home to work, work to LBS, after work ride. I went to the LBS as I was led to believe my Di2 was due a recall, but they confirmed it was only 11 speeds that needed work. I left it with them for a service and new chain. The photos are massive flint puncture on Sunday and a new bag
Out today on me ribble. 102 miles in lumpy yorkshire dales and the forest of bowland. I even took some pics.....
