25th Anniversario?

Discussion in 'Monster' started by Mark Arnold, May 10, 2024.

  1. Hi does anyone think this is worth paying the extra over the S model?

I have a Diavel 1260S and test rode a 1200S Monster the other day for 4 miles which wasn't long enough but that's all I could do
Want to know the realistic tank range on these sticking to speed limits etc and any issues I should look out for ?

  2. Riding within the law you should easily get over 160 miles to a tank. my trip meter tells me a full tank will last for over 190 miles (sometimes over 200). My s gets over 60 to the gallon on a run and I don't always stick to the speed limits.

As for problems, apart form my fuel gauge only working properly if I only fill up when it's half full there has been no issues at all. Changing the belts was a bloody pain but the 2 valvers are mor difficult according to the owners, the job itself is easy enough, it's all the gubbins that have to be removed to get to it. However I have found a short cut which saves a fair bit of time.

  3. Isn't it the 30th Anniversary? :p

  4. The 1200R gets an easy 150 miles before warning light going steady. The S will be no worse, with the benefit of the Ducati quickshifter fitting (may even be standard?)
As to he Anniverassary being worth the extra money, for what looks like mostly a paint job, probably not. But if you love it and can afford it, that is what really counts for something a bit more exclusive.
The Monster series do not seem to have the collector kudos of the sportsbikes. No idea why.

  5. Wife has the 30th Anniversario and looks like I've agreed a deal for a 25th Anniversario

  6. Yes I get it but I wanted the Forged Wheels and the steering damper which I would of put on a standard S model and so buy the time and cost of that you may as well get the Anniversario with all the cover, Carbon fibre, screen, Rizoma bits on as well

  7. hi mick i would be really interested to learn your short cut, as you say removing stuff takes all the time

  8. I have found that I can leave the rear cylinder header and the tank in place so I only have to take off the front exhaust and the collector pipes to get access to do the job, it take a little winkling but it's much easier because the two hardest jobs I found was removing/replacing the rear header and the tank.
Unfortunately the tank must come off next time as it's tappets for me.
