Glove Inners

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by trig, May 16, 2024.

  1. Hi. I have some gortex lined gloves. In warm/hot weather the lining in the fingers drags out when taking the gloves off. Makes it really awkward to get them back on as the lining no longer lines up.

I want to keep the gloves. I was told to turn them inside out and sew the ends of the fingers in place. Probably easy with a normal glove but I didn't get very far with mine.

    Any simple solutions?

  2. I wouldn't be trying to sew them, even if you can turn them inside out. They'd definitely leak after that.

  3. Wouldn't be a problem if there is a fringe around the fingers. I was wondering about gluing the ends of the liners fingers in situ.

  4. Same issue with mine. You could try latex gloves as they do a great job with wet gloves but you tend to use a pair every brine you put the gloves on

  5. Once they start coming out there’s not much you can do, always pull these gloves off slowly freeing each couple of fingers in turn.

I did experiment with dripping superglue into the finger tips which did work for a while.

  6. I might try the silk inners but I’m reluctant as summer gloves I don’t want to make them warmer to wear.
I have done searches and I couldn’t find any mention of glueing anywhere.

  7. When I get a chance I will try putting glue (textile?) on the end of some dowelling and drop it into a problem finger. Repeat and then see if it works

  8. I know you probably know this but you can alleviate the problem by taking the gloves off in two steps. First you take the glove off the normal way but only about an inch, second you pinch the end of each finger grabbing the outer and inner and give each one a tug and then finally grab all four fingers and pull the glove off.
This does sound like a faff but soon becomes second nature and works real good, it's also great for getting off sweaty race ones too.

  9. Presuming your finances allow, how about buying new gloves with laminated waterproofing (Gore Grip, OutDry, DryTech, Skinfit XTR)? Laminated liners can’t pull out.

  10. Summer gloves I never have the lining. Don’t see the point.

Te goretex, I have two pairs and both do what the OP is describing I just use them in winter when I am happy with the faff and keep to summer gloves with less waterproof protection

  11. Sadly laminated liners still pull out if you don’t take them off carefully… (I’ve ruined at least three pairs by pulling them off too hard)

  12. Pinch the finger tips as you remove them to stop the lining coming with them.
