  1. coming back from injury again, 5 miles is better than nothing.

  2. i tried to confirm wattage - it was 48v and i think 1000 watts. I think you are right, unless severely restricted then not road legal but small chance of being caught around here, what about London?

  3. I moved out of London in late 2019 so I’ve not ridden mine there for a while. I reckon that with all the recent publicity about illegal ebikes there’s a decent chance of getting a tug, but having said that, a lot of Deliveroo riders whizz around at crazy speeds on what are clearly hopped up machines with multiple extra batteries gaffa taped to the frame and carrier, so perhaps not.

It’s a big risk though, because if you do get caught, you’re looking at (minimum) riding without insurance, no MOT, no tax, endless “construction and use” offences, which will all add up to about a million points and make you a “totter”. If you’ve ridden on the pavement or breached the Highway Code, then add careless or even dangerous driving. Worse still, if you’ve had a few beers or a puff, you could even end up with a drink or drug driving charge. And, of course, 5-0 will seize the bike, then on conviction the mags/judge will order it to be forfeited and destroyed.

  4. They're often viewed as a signal of other criminality, county lines and/or carrying a weapon etc.
I personally hate them (modded ones) and scooters.

  7. I had forgotten how much faster you can go on a conventional bicycle with narrow tyres.
