  1. Hi everyone, I'm having an issue with my Multistrada 1200s. It's Misfiring and hesitating during acceleration , and sometimes it feels like it's running on only one cylinder. Additionally, I've noticed an increase in fuel consumption.

I've already replaced all 4 ignition coils, but that didn't solve the problem. Has anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas on what could be causing this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  2. Fuel injection relays? I had similar. Shows no error code on dash.

  3. Probably !
You have a point though, because this issue doesn't light up on the dash.
I'm waiting on JPdiag for some clues.

  4. Gear position sensor?

  5. I have the same issue

  6. You've mentioned that you have replaced the ignition coils. How about the plug leads? Horizontal cylinder leads are renowned to fail due to being in the firing line for water off of the front wheel. That combined with the heat results in the insulation breaking down and then shorting.

  7. I didn't think about this one. Is it part number 55241612C?

That's what I should have done in the first place. Did you recommend ordering only the horizontal cylinder?

  8. In my experience of going through 3 gear position sensors you get rough running, not pulling properly as it is misfuelling, but it never went to one cylinder, maybe rough running makes it feel like that, or it’s not GPS

  9. It's kinda like that, but it starts in second gear. When I try to accelerate beyond 4-5 RPM, the engine feels like it has a hole.

More than just a feeling, it's a whole issue because I cannot accelerate past these RPM. But sometimes I can, and sometimes I can't. I need to be gentle, not abrupt on the throttle.

  10. Sound like exhaust valve flap stuck. Has that been disabled already, if not a likely candidate. Very common issue very easy fix.Cure easily found on this forum.

  11. MAP sensor.

  12. So, I need to use a bypass? or should i go as it done in this other threads
Does that mean she will make more noise ?

Like this kind of sensor ? part number 55243161B

  13. It will just be a little less stifled when the valve actuates, around 2000 to 4000 rpm (not sure on the exact range). Though if yours is stuck shut, or partially so, then yes, I guess it'll make more noise but only what it should be making with a correctly working flapper valve.

There is no noise difference outside of the valve acuation revs between a bike with the valve active and one with it deactivated.

The valve delete doesn't make the bike obnoxious in terms of noise output. That's not the point. The silencing is in the CAT, which is upstream of the valve, not the std. end can. It's not a back pressure device, similar to a Yamaha EXUP system, either, to do that it would ideally need to be before the CAT, not after.

The bike as standard might well fail the EU conformity tests for new vehicles by a small margin without the valve. The valve is in the closed position for the revs/road speed/gear combination to cheat around this. The standard Multistrada is technically banned on some Austrian passes due to their noise level limits.

  14. Sounds like a win-win after all, i will try this afternoon.

If that's the case, is the best way to buy a bypass? Like I saw her ?

It's ban from all of austrian or just in some area ?

  15. You can do the delete without any device/expense: Have a look here. Just disconnect the cable at the exhaust end, wire the flap in the open position and add a small spring and maybe a slot cut washer to the end of the cable to provide some pressure so the servo has some resistance. The latter prevents an error message coming up on the dash. I used a Healtec eliminator plugin device on my 1260, like the Duc.ee, but that's not necessary if using a spring.

It solves current or future issues with the valve sticking which it more than likely will. Additionally, it smooths out some fluffyness in the throttle at town speeds which is nice. As you say, it's a win/win albeit making the bike no longer compliant with the type approval that the manufacturers have to comply with for new vehicles. Not an issue at MOT time and frankly not a real world problem.

Have a look here and here. It's for 6 routes in the Tyrol region, the maximum noise level is 95db against that mentioned on your V5 reg doc. The 1260 Multi has a level of 102db, not sure what it is for the 1200 DVT. How ruthlessly this is enforced I don't know, knowing the Teutonic efficiency of the Austrians; probably quite heavily.

  16.
  17. Holy moly, that's the best part of Austria that is forbidden! It's a shame that it was on my bucket list.

Teutonic, you said? Better not say no to art school... Anyway !

I'll try that after I find a spring that fits.

Thank you for your recommendations !

  18. So, I did what the thread suggested, but it didn't work.

However, I have received the license from JPDiag. I took a screenshot of it:

I also took a video if you want to take a look. I go full throttle. Here is the link.

Now that I see the temp, i'm thinking of the :

  19. Not familiar with JPDIAG, use an OBDStar myself.

The MAP sensor measures pressure, not temperature. Engine temperate seems high at 184°C as well... Looks like both are not correct. No idea if that's a malfunction with the bike or JPDIAG.

Could still be the HT leads.
