950 Any Multistrada V2s Riders On Here?

  1. Morning, I used to have a lovely Multi 1200S DVT, sold it (starting to miss it) and currently have a BMW GS. I'm coming to the realisation I want a mid sized lighter adventure/touring bike and have my eyes on the Multi V2S or Tiger 900 GT Pro.

Only thing is the new multi V2S Touruing is over £17k, I've seen nice 2022 for £14k but I can get a new Tiger GT Pro for £14k so just wondering if there's any V2S owners on here can give me some tips and pointers regarding the Multi V2S.

  2. I think the 950 owners have their own website out there on the net.

  3. I had the V2S - capable bike before the V2S I had 2 of 1200 DVT on a 15 and 17 plate.

The V2S is capable of most things.

And would easily do double figures.

But it did not have the Viseral Surge that you got with the 1200.

I sold it after a year - but basically stopped using it after around 6 months.. I lost interest in riding... not sure if it was the bike or me...

Its been a year now since I sold it and do not miss it... I have thought about buying another bike - but still do not have the urge so maybe its me.

It really was not that much lighter that the 1200 - same dimensions - So my suggestion would be if you can afford it by the 1200 or 1260...

  4. Thanks, I actually had a 1200S DVT, gorgeous looking bike but I spat my dummy out when I got the service bill for the belts. Sold it a month later, regretting that now.
Actually the GS I have is great and comfy but I actually want something lighter as I thought I’d put my back out the other day moving it around in the garage and it is a beast to move.

Hence thinking about something maybe 30kg lighter and less than a 1000cc.

  5. Service costs are the same between the 950 and 1200...... horendous!

  6. Depends on where your heart is or where your head is. Simon’s damning praise, it’s a capable bike. It will tour and cruise 2 up with luggage quite happily but it’s a 1260/1200 Multistrada with a 937cc engine shared with the latest Monster and Hypermotard 950. It is not the 959cc engine shared by the Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2. Light, at 217kg dry, it is not but neither is the Tiger. Servicing hasn’t got any cheaper, 9000 miles or 2 years, valve clearances every 18000 miles. Combine a service with the valve clearance check and you are still looking at over £1000 at a dealer. If it were me with your criteria, I’d be looking at a Kawasaki 1000S or maybe a Yamaha MT09. Andy

  7. Thanks for the suggestions but I want a touring bike, already have a fun bike. But just fancied a lighter touring bike tbh.

  8. Try a Desert X

  9. I'll never really go off-road tbh, although I'm doing the Kielder firetrack later in the year as part of a run. It's not really a good looking bike either is it? Can't imagine a 21" front wheel would suit me as it'll be on tarmac 99% of the time.

  10. It’s a lovely looking bike!

  11. It makes a great road bike.

  12. I've had a Multi 950, then a Multi V2S Touring ... which I traded for a V4S a few months ago.
    Loved them all.

The V2S was super capable and served me well on 12000 miles mainly around Europe touring.
It was trouble free and having 4 years warranty and extended desmo service intervals were a bonus.
Touring spec gives you the extras you want ... I swapped the standard seat for a Ducati comfort seat and added seat risers to make it all day comfortable.
I also added the akra twin pipe exhaust ... made a small difference in sound.

  13. Thanks for all the advice and pointers, i couldn’t get a deal across the line on a 2022 V2S I had seen. So I went to the local Triumph dealers, had a go on the new Tiger 900 Rally Pro and have to say they have fixed the vibration issues I experienced on the original model, great bike, so much so I’ve put a deposit on that. It’s not as good looking as the V2S but my head ruled for once, cheaper servicing (still remember the pain of the 1200S DVT Multi I had and the bill for just changing the belts) and more extras plus it’s a cheaper bike.
