Ventured further eastward towards ‘nam, (Cheltenham). Were I happened upon this rather lovely little village. Extra points given if you know what’s going on in the last pic.
As I’ve been riding the Multistrada in the Lakes and Dales I haven’t swung my leg over a bicycle sad for 8 days and even that was only 30 minutes on a Peleton. Today with two friends we rode to Frome for lunch and saw the new Cervelo Aspero, I’ve ridden the rout3 a number of times. Today after about 40 miles cramp set in my left leg, the next 20 miles were slow and at times painful. I had been drinking plenty of water and electrolytes both before and during and after.
commiserations, i have this problem also now although possibly not for the same reason - mine is due to advanced varicose veins in one leg which cause havoc at night time after i cycle 50 miles or more "energetically". If you have unusual discolouration around your inner ankles then this is a symptom that goes with varicose problems.
I rode close to 46 miles today, I’ve nearly kicked the cold in to touch, which is just as well as Thursday we start the Way of the Roses ride. Day 1 - 47.2 miles, but 4,285 ft climbing Day 2 - 71.8 miles, 3,842 ft Day 3 - 51.6 miles, 1,842 ft I’ve ridden further, but never climbed as much. Bike is serviced, new free hub bearings and brake pads.
My own humble D-Day 25 mile ride of respect. I was also lucky enough to meet an elderly lady who has lived in the village all her life. As small girl she remembers the Dakotas an gliders filling the sky on D-Day.
Yesterday was the first day of our Way of the Roses ride. It was tough, three achievements, highest ever climb, although we walked some of it, second highest elevation ride, 1,000 Strava event. The climb out of Settle is brutal, but the Yorkshire Dales are just amazing. No surprise it was in the TDF. I’m currently awaiting breakfast, which will need to be substantial to beat yesterdays.
Day 2 - 71 miles, but 3,800 ft climbing in the first 20 miles. Wind was generally behind us, no rain!
