Popped to jhp for belts, bolts and stickers. Also made a quick model and print of an exhaust blank off, will make an inlet manifold blank tomorrow.
I made this swingarm pivot for my mates 1954 Gilera Nettuno today as the original was fucked. Hope it works ok, as it needs to traverse the length of Italy in July alongside my 1952 Guzzi Airone.
My wife hates anyone calling bikes, cars, boats she or he for some reason, I don’t know why but she does. I always give whichever bike I’m riding a tap on the tank and a quiet well done , good girl as I get off. But it’s a secret.
After much deliberation I ordered a set of Dunlop SportSmart TT’s for the Monster. I decided to change from the Metzeler M7RR’s, they have been good but I want to see if the Dunlops make the steering feel any better. The Dunlops aren’t far off being ‘slicks’ which is great because I won’t be riding it in the rain in Spain. If it’s no better then I’ll either have to get a steering damper or a new bike. We’ll see.
They sharpened the steering on my V4S Mutley, check the dunlop site for recommended tyre pressures as they are a fair bit lower than most other brands.
I haven't specifically done it yet, but I will be aralditing the right hand mirror on the SS as per the suggestion to someone else here, or otherwise securing it in position, so it'll pass the MOT - which has already expired while I've been immobile with a dodgy back - while I wait for the combined mirror/flashers to arrive. I've never been sure whether they're coming from the States or Italy, but given how long they apparently take, I'm plumping for the States, by ship. Bloody expensive given some of the options but the bits of the Terblanche model I don't like are the mirrors and the flashers, that look like the budget gave out so they put any old cheap crap on.
Been over to see Gaz at Motorcycle Select to collect my FZR400 3TJ, after he's done a lot of work, and MoT'd it for me This bike may be for sale soon
Rode the oldie to Cleehill today, ended up doing around 90 miles and it never missed a beat and started first kick every time.
Spent the last three days removing hundreds of fasteners and components from the bike to carry over to the new steed which I hope to take delivery of in the next two weeks. Still a day or two of work left to do on the current bike, to prepare it for sale at the local dealer, where it will ultimately go onto pastures new, in the hands of a new owner.
Finally got the last of the snapped stud out of the Nsr cylinder so I just need to pop it back together and it will hopefully be a runner again.
I bought it 7 years ago as a rolling chassis and a box of bits, I always wanted a classic cafe racer so i built it into what it is today. Not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s probably my favourite bike.
Well, looks like a good job. The motor still stokes my Meriden loyalty, but I'm sure it's fun just the same.
