  1. tell me, where did you purchase your Crystal Ball from? !

  2. I am an F1 anorak Chris. I must get out on the bike more.....

What a bad race that was and glad I didn't waste time watching it live. Perez, Massa and Grosjean did there best to make it entertaining but I think a Mercedes truck would have won it from Pole!

Mercedes will have a penalty though from the rather dodgy tyre test carried out with Pirelli. Maybe a grid penalty for Canada? At least that will stop the qualifer specialist team in their tracks!

  3. Watched live, F1 is very much a dazzling spectacle, but on the telly it does absolutely nothing for me. Digital overtaking is not the same as analogue overtaking, and pitstop strategy is infinitely more boring than actual racing. Computer games are more fun, frankly.

Electronics are killing motorsport for me. I want to see human endeavour, not faster processor speed.

  4. One of the more interesting races at Monaco, which for me is always a dull race. I echo the other comments thou, tyre management isnt racing. If they had tyres that lasted the whole race, that would make it fun.....maybe

  5. to finish first ...first youve got to finish!

  6. Perez made it interesting, at least he wanted to have a go!

  7. Perez continually put people into an impossible situation: either give up your place or there is going to be a crash. I was glad when Raikonnen refused to play ball, even if the inevitable coming together cost both of them their races.

  8. Thats how Senna raced. Sadly Perez will get reigned in sharpish

  9. Probably why I never liked Senna.

  10. In the final couple of laps Vetel put in a quick lap 2 seconds faster than he had previously been circulating, and was immediately told off by Horner.

Monaco is about glitz and glamour, it isn't about racing.

Glad that Rosberg picked up a second win though.

  11. Even Coulthard was moved to say that he thought it was rubbish that the cars can't actually race but spend the whole time thinking about tyre wear. What sort of racing is that?

  12. Pirelli now blaming the teams for the way they use the tyres  Thats a great way to loose the contract to Bridgestone

  13. Pirelli now retracted that statement. They're trying to say it was a 'perfect storm' combination of low pressures, the tyres being on the wrong way round, sharp kerbs and extreme camber angles that led to the failures.

Shit batch of tyres if you ask me.

  14. Imagine if their road tyres blew up and they tried that as an excuse.

You wouldn't want to risk it in the States - you'd be sued for billions in compensation.

  15. You sure would- ask Firestone!

  16. Finally a Brit on the top step this year. Its been a somewhat long time coming, but surprising as even he didnt think his car was going to be competitive until next year.

  17. Well that wasn't the usual chaos from Spa. Yes, Pastor Maldonado proved yet again he should be in any sort of car, let alone an F1 car but that was about it. The result was never in doubt thou. I will say, there was a great little segment at the start with Hamilton and DC driving the old circuit

  18. I've decided that I think that Eddie Jordan is intensely annoying - another jumped-up little shortarse, à la Bernie Ecclestone. He seemed to imply that it was somehow Paul di Resta's fault for being harpooned and that his team principal would not be happy. You could see his thought processes here: "Had he been driving for my team it would have caused me financial hardship and I'd be blaming him". This seemed a trifle unfair.

I am struck in fact by just how obnoxious the pestilential atmosphere of F1 is. You will have noticed the spook from Red Bull in the frame as they interviewed Webber. This was surely some PR person making sure that Webber is "media friendly" and doesn't say anything which isn't in the script. Then there was the bloke from MacLaren refusing to state the obvious and Horner from Red Bull. They are all the sort of thrusting middle managers I used to work with and who you daren't turn your back on for fear of finding a several inches of kitchen knife in it.

I'm beginning to tire of Coultard too. He is typical of the whole F1 circus - a sort of superficial charm hiding a deadly determination and a lack of any real sense of humour. F1 takes itself far too seriously. Despite the money, it is just a load of blokes playing with toys and supposedly for the fun of the thing. They seem to have entirely lost sight of this. I suspect it was ever thus. Colin Chapman was prepared to see plenty of his drivers burn to death just so long as his cars won races.

If you ever wanted to know the meaning of smug, you'd only have to look at and listen to Vettel when he wins a race - it makes my toes curl up. Now, where's that baseball bat?

  19. No longer a fan then

  20. Never been a "fan" as such. I watch F1 frequently when it is on, as the soap opera is quite interesting, but if I miss it, I don't care.
