Does anyone have one of these, there are a few versions to mount different systems (half way down this page), I only just noticed that they do one that mounts the SP Connect system that I use. I recently cobbled together, using additional parts, a means to add the SP Connect charging anti vibration module to my existing Ducati Performance sat nav mount previously used for my Garmin XT... wish I'd seen this Evotech mount earlier as it looks like a far neater way of doing this. Do you have any variant of this mount, doesn't need to be the SP Connect one, on a 1200DVT or 1260 Multistrada? If so, how do you find it. Concerned that it'll add more weight compared to the DP version (though the adapter plate I'm currently using adds to that). Concerned that more weight equals more wobblyness/vibration, my earlier Garmin, prior to the XT, was heavier and made this worse. Though the DP mount is pressed steel and the Evotech one thicker aluminium sheet. Hoping that they'll be close to the same weight and loosing the SP Connect to AMPS adapter I might even be better off in this regard. I'm asking specifically about this mount, and it's variations, on the 1200DVT and 1260 Multistradas, they share the same screen adjusting mechanism that this mount attaches to. This setup means that the mount tends wobble around a little (it's the adjustment mechanism, not the mount) and I've found that the combined weight of the mount and sat nav has a significant bearing on how bad this is.
Not exactly what you're asking but I have that mount on my DVT with a quad-lok mount then a anti vibe mount and then waterproof cable free changer and finally a iPhone max, so quite a bit of weight, It's been flawless for the six months I've been using it.
Au contraire; exactly the sort of response I was asking for, didn't need to the the SP Connect variant, thanks for taking the time to reply I have a lot of faith in Evotech, impressed with the few other parts of theirs that I have on my 1260.
I have that evotech mount, with a wireless quad lock charger on it. Does wobble a little sometimes, but nothing to complain about really. As with most evotech stuff, it fitted great and good quality product
I had one and was very happy with it, better than the Navihalter I was previously using. Easy to adjust and tighten up. This was on my 1260 with. Zumo XT. I didnt notice a lot of vibration
Just thought I'd add for the last couple of months I've switched to the Carpuride 702 on the evotech mount with a quadlock adapter with no vibration mount and it's very solid. I can also see the standard dash without moving my head. Might be of use to someone as you don't have the 1260 any more.
Thanks for the feedback. Collecting a 1260 Pikes Peak on Saturday so very relevant. Aside from the fact that I've ordered the SP Connect version, which by coincidence was delivered part way through writing this reply. Interesting to hear that you've mounted a Carpuride 702 as well, might go down that route and note that Eveotech are producing parts to adapt their sat nav mount to different devices including Carpuride. They even do a Quadlock to Carpuride converter plate here. Also ordered parts to repair both my Evotech crash bungs and bar end weights which I recovered off of the old bike. Very reassuring that they offer a spare parts service, well done Evotech
I used the the converter that you mentioned and gives the option to use my phone in a pinch if the 702 has a problem. just as a side note the 702 will flatten the battery quite quickly if hard wired to a permanent live.
Will be running with just the phone until the new year. Used that on tour for a couple of years, albeit on another mount, and it's worked OK. The Carpuride or some other panel might be on my Christmas list.
@Bumpkin I've been using the Navihalter with no issues such as vibration although my GPS is not Zumo heavy. There was nothing else available at the time. Now, there's Evotech Performance and Iconic. I've ordered several parts from EP and their quality and communication is excellent.
I certainly noticed the reduction in the DP mount (copy of the Navihalter) flapping around when I changed from the weighty Zumo 590 to the lighter Zumo XT. I think the weight on the end has a significant effect on the movement. Also how much sack there is in screen adjustment mechanism, the root of the problem. This varies bike to bike to a certain extent. The Evotech mount fits very well, well designed and beautifully finished. I have high expectations. Fitted it, along with the SP Connect wireless charging anti vibration mount and power supply connected to the GPS connector under the left side of the tank.
FWIW, Amazon are having one of their Prime Big Deal events. If you have Prime, the W702 is currently £158. Dunno if that's a good price, but thought it may be of interest. Event runs today and tomorrow.
Thanks for the heads up. However, recent experience hs taught me that Prime days are a con. Prices for a week either side artificially inflated. If that's not the case for Carpuride will wait until next year anyway as won't be riding much until then and something better may appear in the meantime.
While in general I do agree about prime being a bit of a con, that is indeed a good price for the 702. I payed £213 from them direct not that long ago.
Thank you gents, got one for £167 in the end. Was listed as £175 but there was a slight discount pending. I do note that there's a pro version available now, this features auto dimming in low light amongst other, mainly comms, enhancements. The dimming function would be a good to have but even after discount direct with Carpuride that's £215... Will see when I've had a chance to assess the one I've ordered. TBH I was using an old Samsung S9 with an SP Connect wireless charging mount and that was working pretty well. My main phone, an S21, stays in the tank bag and the S9 uses its WiFi hotspot for connectivity. The only issues being water in the charging port, sorted with a strip of insulating tape. Also screen not the brightest in daylight but no worse than my old Garmin Zumo 590. Battery didn't last all day despite wireless charging but MRA are making inroads on that. The advantages of this setup is that I have redundancy, the S21can be used if required. Also it was a relatively low cost option, just the SP Connect stick on mount. The Carpuride will have to be pretty good to not be returned to Amazon. Watch this space.
Have heard good things about the Carpuride from friends who have them. Not sure if their demands are quite as exacting/particular/fussy as mine though... EDIT: On closer inspection, and confirmed by dispatch email, I did actually order the Pro model anyway. Listed at £253 on the Carpuride site, aledgedly down from £344. Though using one of their discount codes gets it to £176. It's all swings and roundabouts... Though the extra discount from Amazon got it a little lower for me. Being delivered today, house/dog sitter collecting from Amazon locker for me as currently on a beach in the sun. Will report back once I've got my hands on it.
Yes thanks, I'm sufficiently impressed to keep it. The display is impressively large and, as per the head unit in my car, it gives a well scaled view for all apps. The EVKey AliExpress one, and the firmware it was running at the time, just didn't work well with Android. Being the Carpuride Pro model the screen brightness varies with the ambient light, on the rides thus far it's certainly bright enough to be more than adequately viewable/readable. This was the main complaint about the the original, non Pro, model. Brighter than the barely adequate Garmin XT, so much better than other Garmins that I've owned as well as my phone. The EvoTech mount, along with the mount solution that they offer specifically for the Carpuride that uses a QuadLock mount and a custom aluminium block, works really well and offers a secure QD means to attach the panel that's fairly low profile. Have swapped out the supplied bright blue QuadLock lever for a black one so that a/ it doesn't offend my OCD sensibilities, and b/ doesn't draw attention to the QD nature of the mount. Given the weight of the Carpuride it does wobble around a little, reminiscent of my old Garmin. It must be pointed out that this is down to the fairing screen adjustment mechanism on the Multi though, not the design of the mount itself. The Carupride, It's the 7 inch version, not the 5 inch, when attached to the EvoTech mount, did protrude above the Pikes Peak carbon screen. Though I was planning to revert back to the Puig Sports screen which @nelly has since provided the correct bolts and damping grommets for. The ensemble fit's nicely behind the Puig screen, although I did need to use the Iconic screen spacers to make this work satisfactorily. Otherwise the Carpuride made contact with the screen and had to be tilted downwards a little too much. I've been trying to find the time to get out with the camera and document this set-up. Will report back when I've managed to do that.
