Thanks Andy. I do have this on my PC. It's version 2011 (I'm running Vista) and when I load an mpeg4 file it shows as blank and replays a blank screen. I'll have to experiment with other file types to see if I can get it working.
Here's my very first go with my purchase: Midland XTC300 at 720p/60fps. Simple to use and great battery life
Good. Eats memory if you have on full HD. I did about 8 sessions of video, c20 mins a pop and it just ran out of charge in the last session. Easily as good as the others I had and way better than Drift Ghost
You guys seen this? Think it was announced yesterday... HERO3+ Black Edition | Wi-Fi enabled | Most Advanced HD GoPro Ever
Yes, it looks like quite a small improvement. I have a Hero 3 BE so I don't think it is worth me upgrading. The Hero3+ comes with a larger capacity battery that will fit in the Hero3, so I will get the new larger battery in a month. GoPro are still selling the old 1050mAh battery if you buy separately from a H3+ for the next month!
I've just bought the 3 +. I'll report back. I have the 2 and the 3 black. I might think about selling the others.
Personally I'm in two minds about the H3+, I want the battery and the housing but both are accessories that can be fitted to my H3B. The H3B already has class leading image quality so I don't think the other improvements are worth it.
I watched this and thought I would give it a go. As I said I can sell my others to go towards this new one. I use mine everyday for my commute so it doesn't bother me getting a new one. I defiantly don't need one but I do like to get new tech. GoPro HERO3+ vs. HERO3 Comparison and Review - YouTube
I find it quite anal when they start nit picking over then latest vs the last one. lets face it to be able to stick a little camera to your bike, car, dog or bell end and record in full HD or take decent quality snaps its pretty fucking cool. When you bore everyone with your ride/trackday/mountain biking vids I guess the last thing they are thinking is hmmmm he should have bought the 3+ I got sucked in to these comparison video on youtube when deciding which phone to go for. I had a HD hero which IMO was pukka, now I have the 3 white and even then I only bought it because I have a GoPro incident otherwise I would not have bothered. Although kinda glad I did for the wifi alone Its like trying to tell the difference between a 1080 and 720 TV. I cant tall the difference
Just saying, I am a bit suspicious of that review, I think they are in the game and sponsored. I have seen a few other reviews and none show that kind of difference e.g. GoPro Hero 3+ vs. Hero 3 (Black editions) - YouTube . hardly any difference in video quality. Just saying. I think the GoPro has best image quality, but I can't say anything else good about it. The mounting system sucks, battery life sucks donkeys and the case is like having a sail on my helmet. So I keep on looking for something that is a better fit for my needs. I will probably get a 3+ though
I don't think I can either when watching something off TV. But if I see a video on a GoPro black and for instance a Drift Ghost or Contour Roam, I can tell the difference quite clearly, ten times out of ten. GoPro hands down best image, and if your coming out of (or in) a tunnel or its dusk, the GoPro is the only one that is usable. Problem is every other aspect is better on the Drift & Contour, so GoPro owners like me keep on checking for improvements. Your right about my videos though, they are boring, I will give you that
Have a look at the new (out next month) Sony HDR-AS30V. Slightly smaller/lighter than one out at mo. Comes with a separate to buy wrist remote with screen and big red record button. cost more than GoPerv H3 Black but more streamlined when stuck on the side of your head/helmet. 14mp and very easy menu/setup. Comes with good GPS tagging and video info overlay. I have a Goperv Hero 2 and ease of use is an oxymoron.
I have the new GP HD 3+, just done a run from London to Witham. The journey was 1:33mins. From a full battery I still have 2 bars (out of 3) left. I just looked through the Gopro App, 70% battery life on 1:33 already filmed. I'm pretty impressed so far. Have not had a chance to look at the footage yet. If you had the 3 you could get the new case, which is smaller or better yet upgrade to the new Li-ion Polymer Battery PAck, 3.7V 1180mAh 4.3Wh. The open and close little clip feels a little cheaper than the 3 but it is alot smaller and easier to open.
Well I would be pleased if I could get anything like that, I usually get only 1:37 out of a full charge on the GPH3 shooting at 1080 30 W, I would expect a max of 2hrs from GP H3+ if claims are correct. What resolution did you use? Also batteries often don't give their max until after a few cycles so maybe more to come.
This was on 1080 Wide S (super wide view, new to the 3+) - 25 FPS. I was very surprised to see the camera still on when I arrived. Im using PAL as opposed to NTSC. I will run some unscientific test on my GPHD 3 (non 3+ camera) with the 3+ battery and see what happens.
That would be interesting because the camera itself must be more efficient to get an increase like that, the battery is only 13% bigger. I tried to get the new battery but GoPro are not selling them as accessories at the moment.
The camera is identical. The lens looks slightly different and the buttons on the case are way bigger. Which is nice. The closing mechanism has gone back to the one hand usage.
I bought a spare 3rd party 1600mAh battery, first run on a 1st charge gave me 2hr 21 mins of recording 1080 30fps Just out of interest what battery life do you get out of the remote?
I rarely use the remote as I usually use the camera for short journeys and turn it off after that. I'll have to check this too. Where did you get the battery? I have used the Wasabi ones which seem ok.
