  1. Left the Grand Canyon North Rim and drove back to Bolder City, liked the handles on the doors of the restaurant we ate at.

  2. Stopped In bolder city for a night a couple of years ago. The Bar in the hotel was like something from the 70s. Even someone who was dressed like huggy bear from starskey and hutch

  4. Spent 3 hours in the gym/ swimming, to burn off the excesses of the bike trip. 3216 calories burnt (including yesterday), 16800 to go, before I’m back to normal.

  5. I’m now in North Yorkshire. Weather was lovely till midday which I knew it would be, hence the very early start :)

  6. Yesterday: Helped a mate strip his forks and replace the seals (ohlins, RSV1000R) for the TT - he had an advisory (both were leaking) hes not as mechanically minded as me but, once we went through it all - he agreed its not as daunting as it sounds...OEM ohlins that came with the RSVr's and a lot of RSV4's are pretty simple to strip down but, does help if youve got a fork seal driving tool. Gave it a good clean and adjusted the chain...ready to go on thursday.

  8. Okay. The acting and comic timing was excellent with the exception of Basil and the Major, who were quite superb (The Major was played by Paul Nicholas from Just Good Friends for those of us of a certain age). The script brought together all the best known additional characters such as Mrs. Richards the deaf lady (originally Joan Sanderson), Mr Hutchinson the verbose Northerner (Bernard Cribbins), the Germans and a few others including Basil the rat very well. My only reservation is that the script was pretty much exactly the same as the TV shows, which means that you knew exactly what was coming next pretty much all the time. Yes, there were a few surprises (I won't spoil them) and some slight variations because of the fixed set or to link the scenes, but most of the time I was three lines ahead. I can't say I didn't enjoy it because I did, but equally I wasn't blown away if that makes sense.

  9. Perfect sense, those of us of a certain age were practically raised on Monty python and then later on Faulty Towers.
I’m off to see a production of Dr Strangelove in October showing at the Noel Coward theatre in London.
Whilst I’ve seen the film it was a while back so hopefully it’ll not spoil the plot.

  10. This morning, whilst waiting for an technical engineer to rock up to look at my driveway (not arrived yet), I’ve messed around in the garage, charged up my airbag vest, stripped the bed and put the washing machine on and been out to pick some tomatoes and a variety of peppers (snack peppers, mildly hot and ‘fuck me they’re a bit warm’) I’ve recently grown

  14. Yesterday I rode to Dumfries and Galloway with 30 odd other Ducatisti for the weekend. :) The weather was lovely.

Also with a group so big you expect a few issues......and they say things happen in threes....so I hope we had our 3 yesterday and that's the end of it (my bike had a dicky fit and wouldn't start as it had a flat battery for some reason when leaving Hawes, one guy found he had a puncture before leaving Ducati Manchester so had to wait to get a new tyre delivered and fitted before setting off and lastly one guy had an off near Alston......he's OK, but a bit battered and bruised, ripped jeans, slightly fucked but still rideable bike, but smashed panniers and very dented pride)

  18. Oh, and test rode the new hypermotard 698 while the 999 was getting checked over at the dealers. It was offered to me while I was waiting, so I said "why not"!

A bike that is soooo not what I'm used to. Far too soft front suspension, would wheelie easily on the gearing, but then ran out of steam at the top. Accidentally hit the limiter over and over, and it was disconcerting as the power would instantly drop dramatically.

Would be great fun though set up correctly, a young (rich?) hooligan's bike.

Termis fitted were definitely not loud enough
