I’ve always liked Roadtec 01SE on my Multi’s. However the V4 PP handled so well on the Diablo Rosso IV’s that I’m wary of changing anything. However 1) the DR IV’a only last 3000 miles and 2) they pick up punctures (shards of flint) after about 2,500 miles. Has anyone swapped the DR IV’s for Metzelers (either Roadtecs or a semi track equiv to the Pirelli’s) and can report on the difference? Thanks
I love the Roadtec 01 SE, for this very heavy bike, they are tyres with an optimal compromise between grip and durability, but of course, when it comes to tyres, each one is a world, as many factors influence, state of the roads, abrasion of the type of asphalt, temperature (very important, check the pressures regularly, well-adjusted suspensions, weight of the rider and his load, care when accelerating at the exits, in short, as you can see, many variables to say if this one or the other is better, rather it will be better or worse, depending on the conditions of use of each one.
I disliked the Rosso 4 and changed after 600 miles to the new Roadtec 02. It behaves slightly differently to the 01SE’s on my old 1200 but I’m very happy with them. Andy

Two different profiles, the Rosso tips in and the 01SE rolls in. IMO, the Rosso is the quicker of the two. Whereas the steeper profile of the Rosso makes it ‘flighty’, the more rounded profile of the 01SE feels more stable in a straight line. Just my opinion. Andy
A mate had the new Michelin Road 6’s on his bike, and absolutely swears by them, especially in the wet. I’m not sure how they’d fare on the PP.
Road 5 only lasted me 1500 miles , and that was on a GS1250 , great tyres but chocolate when ridden hard.
A mate with a V4 PP ran Road 5's on our tour last year, they were fine for grip but coming from the original Pirelli's the bike felt nowhere near as sporty, slow to turn etc. not bad but just not as good.
Well I am comparing a 19 with a 17 so the comparison is perhaps unfair as one is a sports tyre the other a touring tyre , but the wear is still not good . The original tyres on the PP were the 4 and even after 1000 miles (including the run in) I worried about a Spain trip , but never found out as rejected the bike. The next Multi V4s with ContiTA3 worked brilliant and just lasted the 2500 miles and got home as well , just.
I'm assuming those 1,500 miles include track riding? I can't see how it's possible to chew through a tyre that fast on the road unless you're none stop gunning it at every second.
I've done nearly 2K on my PP with Rosso 4's, I think they're great. In all honesty I'll prob stick with them too. Looking at them I reckon I'll get between 3000 & 4000 miles out of them and I've been riding the bike pretty hard at times too.
Not at all , I fitted them and the bikes were delivered to Barcelona , collected from Rubi , did the tour , back to Rubi and flew back. Just roads and in Spain on ythe roads I use use , yes its flat out all day , every day 280 to 300 miles a day .. fun fun. We call it the fast/fun/balls out tour on the best camber roads you can find To add the Conti TA3 on the last Multi V4s , did last . Well used but did the trip.
Ahhhhh, I thought you was using as a daily or something I tour a lot around Spain, on Metzeler M9 RR's I get around 3k out of the rear being conservative from time to time.
My last two bikes had metzeler M9 fitted, I loved them. My now PP came with Rosso's and I've never been convinced by them. When tipping in to fast corners the bike would shimmy, particularly on right handers. I assumed as it was only on rights it was something I was doing. I've just fitted Road 6s and think they feel great, totally planted and confidence inspiring. Plus the shimmy has disappeared so it must have been the Rosso's causing it. Im slowly grinding my pegs away both sides so the Road 6s have more than enough grip for my needs. And they dont budge in the wet.
I would like to think even wear on very cambered roads of the mountains . The pegs were down , on the big gs . Is that better , that’s on the V4s , L-511 a testing road but fun .
Think I will get about 2500 miles out of mine , but I also think they are great , the feedback is really good . I will also get them again
Well, you have a lot of courage. You know the new regulations that came into effect a few months ago, right? As I see those wheels, you are going at speeds that could cost you a 6-month prison sentence. Plus, now they have undetectable tripod radars, others in two directions, more helicopters that record and measure you from more than 3 km away and drones that cannot be seen from 30 meters high until they stop you 100 meters further on. If you exceed 50% of the speed limit, you go to jail and get 6 months for a crime against road safety. MINIMUM.
