New Monster Sp

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by iang27, Jun 7, 2024.

  1. I was looking at the monster SP and there are good discounts to be had but is it for a reason ?
Are they not good sellers or is it that dealers aren’t shifting much so they will do good deals at the moment.

  2. At £14k before discount, it’s an expensive bike and it doesn’t benefit from the suspension lowering kit because of the Öhlins suspension. The decat is an extra £2.2k on top which is getting into Streetfighter V2 and Panigale V2 price territory and the 937 engine is no match for the 955 engine. The standard 937 Monster (M+) is a good bike to ride but it needs better suspension. Not having ridden the SP, I don’t know if the Öhlins makes the difference. I had Maxton make up a fork cartridge kit and rear shock for ours and it transformed the handling of the bike. The decat exhaust also made a fair bit of difference to the ride ability. Would I buy the SP over the standard  probably not because I can set the standard bike up to be better for less money. It might be heresy but I’m not convinced the non electronic Öhlins made for Ducati is the best way to go with Maxton and Nitron doing some pretty good, bespoke suspension for less. Just my thoughts. 3. I have been offered one for £12950 so £1k off plus £8k my 22 plate KTM890R so £5k to change.
It’s a good discount and good money for my KTM.

Already had a SFV4 and a V2 and then went to something cheaper but got the urge for another Ducati but finances are limited hence why I was tempted.
If the bike was retail at £14k it means I would be getting £9k for the 890

  4. I’ve not ridden one but all the reviews say it’s a fabulous bike, the standard model won many bike magazine awards when launched. I know someone who has the Anniversario and loves everything about it.

If you’re happy with the deal then I’m sure you won’t be disappointed, dealers have stock at the moment which they need to shift.

  5. Looks like a lovely bike Ian. Saw one at my local dealer recently and it looks much better in the flesh, as do so many of their bikes.

  11. Wasn’t a fan of the new Monster until I saw an SP at the dealers today & it looks very nice much better than it does in pictures.

  12. The SP that was in the local dealers showroom caught my eye primarily because I really liked the design of the back end. I'm sure it rides as good as it looks as well. Have you thought about a clean low mileage 1200R Ian? I've seen a few knocking about. Last of the trellis frame Monsters and a beast of a bike. The past president of UKMOC, whose a personal friend of ours, had one and couldn't stop smiling. Comfy too.

  13. Friends got an sp as his first ducati and rates it. Says the suspension is really good.

  14. I did look Rod as I really like them but this may be my last new bike as I am done with blowing fortunes on bikes so it may be a keeper. Had all the big capacity stuff and you cannot use it on the road.
You picked up yours today then.

  15. Yes was delivered yesterday. It's easy to get carried away as you know, when it comes to bikes, so I can see where you are coming from and the SP is more than likely plenty enough for the road. To be honest how many of us actually need all the power a modern superbike offers, apart from on track. Didn't you own a CCM once, that was sublime.

  16. I don't know what it is with Triumph Dealerships.
Three times I've tried to trade in a bike for a Triumph and three times they have been no where near a trade in value compared to other brands.
Hence I've still not owned a Triumph.
    I've give up now.

  17. Recommend the 1200R.Have a Termi.exhaust on mine and to my ears it's the best sounding bike I've ever owned.

  18. Yes I had the Streetfighter V2 and the CCM Foggy but I hadn’t been well so wasn’t using them both,Plus my local Ducati dealer closed and in my wisdom I decided to get an M1000R which was lovely but I should never have got it.
I spat the dummy and decided to buy a smaller cheaper bike hence the 890R and a load of cash back.
To be fair the 890R rides great, is plenty quick enough for the road and probably handles better than any bike I have owned. BUT, it’s not a Ducati.
