I didnt pay much attention to the test last week but i see Toprak smshed the lap record and was only a second off the fastest time from the Moto GP test there last year.
I see WSBK will not be going to Hungary in August, https://www.worldsbk.com/en/news/20...imate round in 2024 Hungarian Round cancelled, instead the circus is off to Estoril in October. Andy
A choice of new tyres for WSBK and SuperSport as well, https://www.worldsbk.com/en/news/20...solutions+from+Pirelli+for+the+WorldSBK+field. Andy
Never heard of Balaton Park and according to this its only been open a year! Balaton Park Circuit - Wikipedia
There was a big build up about retuning to Hungary when the calendar was released. Not sure why not the Hungaroring but think it might have lost its FIM accreditation for bikes or it just might be that it seems to be mainly a car circuit now. Andy
Looking forward to seeing him at the weekend as I’ve just landed in Pisa to drive over to Misano, calling in at Ducati for the factory/ museum tour on the way
Hmm if u look at that wiki link all the lap times are cars too. Which I suspect is why they’re having to do repairs to a year old circuit already. Something smells £££££
An interesting read, https://www.worldsbk.com/en/news/20...in a hurry I have some proposals on the table and Danilo is back, yay Andy
Just a lovely boy isnt he Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team): “Being ahead in the Championship after this weekend is not important for me; the focus is race by race, like 2021” Discussing his chances of winning, the Championship battle, and his teammate, Razgatlioglu said: “This is my dream, but the race is always difficult. My pace is strong on the bike, but my focus is just on tomorrow. This is nice with only a six-point gap to Alvaro. Being ahead in the Championship after this weekend is not important for me; the focus is race by race, like 2021. I just want to enjoy every race weekend – this is more important for me. My mentality is always to win the race. I am very positive for this weekend because it appears that we are very strong after the test here. Mickey is a very good person, and a very good rider. I’m very happy with him, and I hope we continue together. If we continue together, then I will be very happy. He looks like he’s also getting a lot faster after several big injuries, and I am very happy for him. He has also improved the bike too. We are good teammates inside the team; the atmosphere is very good, and this is important for a race team.”
About time. Most sports have separate categories for men and women (football, rugby, cricket, tennis, athletics, skiing, rowing, cycling). Few women can beat a field of men in a mixed sport (exception: Ana Carrasco). Womens' class in WSB is well overdue. More power to their elbow.
Carasco is in the rider line up; https://resources.worldsbk.com/news...081.570442552.1718365811-473831118.1718365808
Not a great starrt by any means, the Norwegian rider air lifted to hospital with multiple injuries and race red flagged. Hope she’s ok.
Literally no one in motorcycle racing more exciting to watch than Toprak these days, and you can count 93 in that.
