998 Stock Ecu

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by Nick_996, Jun 11, 2024.

  1. As my search for a factory stock ECU (part number 28640341A) for an EU deep sump 998S at a sensible price has reached a dead end, I am inviting suggestions/leads as to reliable and capable sources that could undertake an ECU re-flash, as I would be looking to put my bike back to its stock form (with the factory stainless steel 50mm cans).

  2. Have you tried using a 999 ecu?

  3. I have not @Martin Le Tessier but I believe that the 999 ECU would be more relevant for the 998R models. Then again, I might be wrong

  4. The labels shown on the ECU are those of Magneti Marelli. It should have some different labels on it put on by Ducati with the reference numbers on.
28640341B is a stock not DP map reference. The B denotes it is just an evolution of the 28640341& map. The next evolution would be 28640341C.

  5. That was also my understanding until I consulted the official 996R parts manual which explicitly notes this part code down for the 50mm open carbon cans. Trust the differences between the two to be minor but I wouldn't want the bike running lean or the stock pipes overheating more than they should.

  6. The ECUs are reprogrammed with the mapping for each bike it is fitted to. You are looking for either black/silver foil or white paper labels that carry the Ducati reference numbers (a lot of the DP ECUs have red/white labels). Ignore the bike model on the MM labels. The same ECUs were used on numerous different bikes.
