So what have you done today..?

  1. I'm old enough to remember Dick Emery..."Ooh you are awful, but I like you" and other classic phrases. Smallest aircraft flown was the Robinson R22, a two seater Lycoming piston engine helicopter. Great as a training aircraft but very unforgiving in terms of rotor RPM decay, due to lack of inertia in the blades, that has sadly caught many inexperienced pilots out, with sadly fatal consequences. The largest is the Airbus H175 and/or the Agusta Westland 189. Both are two crew machines with 16 passenger seats. Six axis dual autopilots and fully digital engine management control. Glass cockpit and a whole lot more. Great helis to fly and a LOT of power. Currently on the AW139. Been lucky enough over the years to have been rated and flown the Hughes 300, Hughes 500, Bell Jetranger, Sikorsky S76, Eurocopter EC155, Agusta Westland 139, 169 and the 189 variants.

  2. Talked at length with a Chinook Ch-47 engineer a couple of years ago. I still find it incredible to think of the transmission linking both rotors together.

  3. Did you watch the TV programme last night about the one that crashed?

  4. no, I will look out for it, by sheer coincidence I spoke to one of the main contributors at the inquest, a highly qualified and respected Chinook pilot, as he was a fan of Integrales and Fiat Cinquecentos. The last thing I remember is the father one of the pilots? would not let it go, and wasn't happy with the findings, and quite rightly in my opinion - I don't know the latest though.

EDIT i'm wondering if I have the same crash even, will post again.

  6. Germany 5-1 Scotland !

Didn’t see it but I bet Rod Stewart wishes he hadn’t either :joy:

  7. I think he was busy performing a concert in Leipzig so was spared that shambles.

  8. I've just heard the news today that Alan Bates has been handed a Knighthood, rightly so in my opinion.

  10. The sad thing about the whole affair's that only a very few percentage have been paid out and probably been shortchanged.

  14. Done a few little bits to a couple of bikes, ready for next weekend, between rain showers

Gave up on the bikes, so, decided to swap the wheels on my new car, cleaned up the calipers whilst the wheels were off 20240615_160831.jpg 20240615_161326.jpg 20240615_162424.jpg 20240615_162703.jpg 20240615_161727.jpg 20240615_161736.jpg IMG-20240526-WA0011.jpg 20240615_163607.jpg

  15. wedding Job in Oxford, it turned out fine for Scott the lovely groom, but close to disaster in Bracknell, as caught in torrential rain and somebody hadn't attached the hood properly. Bad luck was that my phone was sitting on a hands-free satnav which ended up dripping with water. One of these pictures is especially for Viv.;):upyeah:

  18. I'm not sure they would let me in with my fiat Uno ownership.
As for Oxford a few times over the years and always worth a visit with those architectural dreams, aren't those kids lucky reading in that wonderful environment, the last time i was there i'd a rowing boat race with an ex-rower from one of the colleges with three up in each boat, i'd never rowed before then but i got to the bridge before him.
He thinks he bumped me just before.......
