Just ordered one Nice looking bike, reasonable price, lots of equipment comes as standard on the Pro model. Decent tank range - and again a nice looking bike IMHO Still have the two year old KTM 1290 that will soon need a service, and will then likely sell it privately.
Overall the KTM 1290 Adventure is a bigger bike - I just fancy downsizing a bit to a middleweight adventure bike. The Tiger 900 still has the range of a larger bike and decent enough power on the motorway. Being a Triple - it has different revier engine characteristics to the big V-Twin. I had the Tiger 800 in the early days of the model - it was pretty basic compared to the latest 2024 version. But still loaded it up with camping stuff and did trips to Europe with it - here in Denmark on the way to Norway.
Close one Just cancelled the order - looking at tyre sizes for the bike, there are very few road bike options for the 100/90/19 front. The Dunlop Roadsmart 4 and the Roadtec 02 are not available in that fitment. Very few Pirelli options either. I do not want to be stuck only able to use a few dual sport tyres. Pants.
How about a f900 Gs? I’ve got the f850 Gs and it’s really surprised me how good it is, a bit heavy to push about but they all are.
Thank you for your comment - that looks interesting, never even looked at that bike before. Reasonably priced even with a few extras ticked. Looks alright actually. The other option is to just go with the few tyre options that are available - The new Scorpion Trail III and the Continental Trail Attack 3 Maybe these street biased tyres are good enough as they have been designed principally for use on tarmac. I will give the dealership a call in the morning. Or the Continental Trail Attack 3
Well that is solved then - the dealership could not get me the bike in the luscious Sapphire Red colour choice anyway Nearly, but no cigar....
...........then again..... Well dealership sent me an email with a picture of the just arrived silver version of the bike - that looks much better in the picture than it does on the Triumph website - really nice - so ordered it So going with the original bike choice after all !! Splendid ! Happy with that for sure !!
Good shout I’ve got a Tiger 800 XC that I use for green laning, but if anything happened to my Ninja 1000SX the triumph would be a capable long distance tourer
Well it arrived - got the call today to come and collect it. It feels quite light and quite small after the KTM 1290 SAS. But that was the whole idea. Still a bit quick See how I get on with the tyres, might swap them over quite soon ...
And another picture. OE tyres swapped out for Continental Trail Attack 3 - much improved. Fiddled with adjustable suspension, now less boingy. Due its first service soon, will overrun the 600 miles by quite a bit. Plans for this bike. I would really like to do a trip up to Bodo, in Norway, just above the Arctic Circle. We'll see !
