Featured Hypermotard 698

  1. Do you think a build slot for September delivery is still a possibility? [Email asking the same already sent to my local dealer in Bristol!]

  2. September is the advertised delivery is my understanding. There is/was a ‘entrepreneur’ on eBay selling a delivery mileage for 15k on eBay.
You may bag an ex demo if you’re lucky.

  3. Hopefully dealer can fill you in, but depending on popularity this could be difficult as even September was probably pre-booked a few months ago. If you are prepared to buy some distance away from home then biggest chance possibly.

    s/h and low mileage :-

  4. And the answer is, “August at the latest” for an non-RVE order placed now. I am very tempted.

  5. @Sharky698 could you do me a favour please when you get chance? Can you measure the vertical height of your 698 from the ground to the top of the fluid reservoirs on the bars? I

I’m interested to know whether it will fit in my van, MBVito. Not your specific bike obviously :joy: but the model in general. I’m weighing up the pros & cons of getting one but it’s got to fit in the van.

    TIA

  6. Ok Paul, will do.

  7. Thanks. For some reason the Ducati pages often don’t load, for example I can’t access the configurator. It’s not just me either, the dealer has the same issue

Looking at the dimensions therein it looks like I’ll have to not only remove the mirrors but also the bikini fairing, and unbolt the bars from the headstock and lay them on the tank . Poxy Vito and its miserly 1220mm rear entrance height.

In case anyone’s wondering why, the nearest dealer is 360km/5hrs away so when the bike needs to go for a software update it’s a 720km/10hr + round trip via motorway and I’d rather do that in the van than on that bike.

  8. That’s a very high bar height to need to remove so much. I have a Transalp in the back of my old Vito with only taking the mirrors off.
Got my GasGas in my newer Vito with just mirrors off. I didn’t notice the handlebars to be that much higher on the tard than the Gasser.

Buy a MotoLug and tow it?

  9. Yep, I can get a Transalp in my 07 Vito without mirrors.
Can get a Hypermotard 1100 in without mirrors too, which makes me think is the 698 that much taller .

I don’t want to drive all the way to Dublin and then find out it won’t fit :astonished:. I did that once before, not Dublin, somewhere nearer, just 100km away, dimensions indicated it would fit, reality contradicted that.

Have you ordered your 698 yet? :joy:

  10. I looked at them earlier this morning. It’ll cost me about €2000 to get one what with shipping, duty, vat, admin fees etc etc etc.

Then I have to get a towbar, the old one fell off :astonished:, thank fully the trailer was empty. It fell off because it was all rusted to dust under there. Turns out one of my drivers (in a previous life) used to use it to launch and retrieve his boat, backed it into the sea too often. Now there’s nowhere to fit a tow bar.

I really ought to get a new van .

  11. Doesn’t the dealer in Dublin have a tape measure?

It’s a lot of $ and I need to convince myself that amount spare is just resting in my account.

  12. I’m not even sure they have a bike there yet, trying to establish just that. Even if they do have one, or at getting one soon, that’s not to say they’ll have a demo bike.

Likewise, I need to sell some things first, but that’s ok, I’ve 3 I don’t use anymore and 2 of them are tentatively sold :upyeah:.

  13. On the subject of size, Ive been doing some research and it seems the Hyper range is getting bigger. Whereas I could get an 1100 in the van, just, the modern bikes are now taller.

I’ll wait and see what @Sharky698 comes back with as that will probably be a quicker response than the dealer here.

  15. 125.5cm Paul.
When removing the mirrors (if it is gonna fit in your van?) I would consider applying Loctite or a locking washer. The thread size is too big for a bike with this harmonic. I’ve had mine come loose a couple of times.

  16. Thank you, max height of access into the Vito ? 1250mm. Hmmm, this could be tight (as the actress said to the bishop)

  19. Wednesday morning it is, following the Foo Fighters the night before. Current thinking is standard Rosso Mono, with quickshifter and Termi end cans.
