Ducati 848 Evo Special Edition Suspension Questions

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Michel88, Jun 19, 2024.

  1. Hello

I made a post here about sprockets and got alot of help, so i tought i will try my luck on a suspension topic :)

I have the 848 evo SE with showa in front and Øhlins in rear.
The bike feels abit stiff and "wierd"
I live in Norway, there is not many good suspension guys here so i have to try to adjust this myself.
Would anyone be so kind and explain me the "sag?" in front and back? and how i should adjust?

If this is to hard i might take the boat to the UK if anyone of you know a really good place to get this adjusted to my weight and hight ect :)

Thanks for taking the time reading this

    Best regard

    Michel, 35, Norway

  2. When I purchased my first 848 SE, the rear spring was set up for someone much heavier than me. I swapped it for the correct one and it made a huge difference. My current 848SE is similar and I feel I can’t get any rear grip at all. I am about to take it and my wife’s new ZX6R to a guy in Bournemouth, Race Lab. http://www.racelab.co.uk/. Probably lots of good suspension guys closer to you though but I have heard great things from many people. Good luck!

  3. Thanks you for the tip, i will email them and take it from there. Is the shop far away from Newcastle?

  4. KRG motorcycles in Consett might be a bit closer than Bournemouth! They do sussies work .

  5. the standard ohlins shock fitted to these bikes doesn’t allow the spring to be wound off far enough to get any meaningful sag into the rear. I had a shorter ohlins spring fitted to mine which allowed me to get some sag into it. I also lowered the rear ride height which is opposite to my instinct but it made the weight balance better and stopped it feeling like it was overloading the front tyre all the time
