Good option for him. not going his way at Ducati and he won't be getting a factory ride anytime soon with them. That leaves Marcs old bike and now Bez bike up for grabs. Millar to take Marcs bike and Aldeguer to take Bez bike or the other way around
Dont really know what to make of this. Seems ducati are letting their strongest riders leave (with all their know how) and replacing them with an OAP (in moto gp terms) and an untested moto 2 rider whos not exactly pulling up trees. Is that the gist of it or am i missing something?
I think Jack has had his day and I read into Marco's departure, to be more about the spec of bike the team will get in 2025, if Pertamina VR46 stays with Ducati. Rider ability seems to be taking a back seat to rider marketability. I also think 2027 is already having an affect on teams' employment strategy. Andy
Assuming Aldegeur will end up in one of the empty seats.. Who's alongside Frankie(?) at Pramac? Who's alongside Digi(?) at VR46 And who's alongside the other Marquez at Gresini?
Agreed, a lot changing for ‘27. Next years bikes will be totally irrelevant, going to be a real leveller. https://www.silverstone.co.uk/news/motogps-radical-2027-rules-and-regulations-explained How many of the current crop of riders will still be around? The riding experience on todays bikes will also be a lot less relevant…
Why change whats worked for something thats going to change in 3 years though? 93 will be 34 in 2027. Aldegeur *could be in world super sport by then. etc... Martin and Bez were part of the future, whatever that future held as far as i could tell. Feels like a very significant change in direction whatever the reasoning.
im with you but theres some folks here that think ducati in backing 93 have scored a home run and secured as many championships for as long as they can keep 93 in their tent
I guess him helping develop an 800 will be seen as a bonus as he’s won titles on them before but I'm still not convinced he's a cert for anything more than that, especially another title at this stage. His track record for developing bikes isnt the greatest either is it? Or certainly developing a bike that everyone else can ride. Again, i may be missing something there.
Absolutely not a development rider! I cant see the logic, everyone and their dog knows that no matter how fast the rider, age overtakes them. Youth comes through. Acosta, Martin..future. MM, past. Marquez, cant see him having any input after ‘27. New generation of riders on completely different bikes will be required.
How long is Toprak's contract with BMW? If he wants to move to MGP he needs to do it sooner rather than later at 27yrs old.
Can’t ever see it happening but I said that about marquez on a ducati!! He’s another one you wouldn’t really want developing a bike unless you were going all in on one rider cos he’s sooo bloody unique even more so than 93. Some interesting times ahead to say the least even if I’m not in favour of certain decisions!!
I’m more concerned about his size than his age, he’s a smidge under 6 foot and weighs 82k. Makes him a smidge shorter and 13kg heavier than Lucca Marini and between 18kg and 23kg heavier than the current top 3. No minimum rider weight in MotoGP. Andy
