Yep. Roads for the most part pretty empty. Saw some expectant hoardes around the gazzillion inch LED pub TVs, passing a few establishments. Weather was ace as well.
No team cohesion. All just thinking about their own profile and stock. Other teams are trudging off the pitch knackered because they’ve left it out there. If England miraculously make to the advanced stages, I’ll record it and do what @Topolino did. Go for a blast on empty roads
That’s going to take more than a miracle. Lazarus had more life in him before he was raised from the dead than England had on the pitch last night. An absolute disgrace but hey, that’s professional football for you. Andy
And the players saying after the second match which was a boring draw ‘we’ve just done enough to be top of our group’ that’s the spirit lads !
I enjoyed the match very much. Especially the bit where I crossed over Woodhead pass followed by Snake pass in the second half. When’s the next match?
No off the ball movement. No on the ball movement either. Soft, lobbed passes and crosses. No penetration or threat. Nobody wants to take any risks or responsibility and the entire team just seems to want to pass it around and try to walk it into the net. I found myself having to give my sons the biannual explanation that, with a very few exceptions, this is exactly how they’ve played in every single international tournament during the 40-odd years I’ve been watching football.
Anyway, as you can probably tell from my earlier posts I am not really into football. Never have been. Don’t understand the tribalism and fanaticism. Was taken to a D1 match at Charlton aged 7 (a long long time ago) as part of a friend’s birthday treat. I was bored. I was cold… But a question to those of you that are serious about the beautiful game. Substitutions. Right at the end of a match. Why? I saw the end of one of the Euro games and a player came on for the last ten seconds. What’s that all about? Running down the clock?
