Saw this pop up on reddit today. Seems another liveried edition paying homage to the V2. Rumors floating about that V2 will be replaced by 800cc V4 engine or the supermono. Anyone know more about this?
Oh god…. Another Ducati special paint There are only 500 registered and SORN V2 in the uk which over the last 4 years isn’t bad but isn’t exactly loads given that a lot of those SORN bikes will be trioptions bikes from a few years back. Ducati said though at the time of the V4 that it would be super difficult to make a small capacity version as it would be prohibitively expensive, unless now they have the valve spring heads they have decided they can make a 800cc version with valve spring heads
Euro 5+ comes in to force next year. I remember reading somewhere that the road version of the Yamaha R1 might be discontinued because of it. Progress ! Andy
As a former owner of the v2 it’s a perfect bike (other than the crap rear shock) but it’s already at a premium price point. The Bayliss ones seem to be about in big numbers for low mileage ones so far. In one way was almost surprised at Because the 959 corse held it’s value compared to the base model and didn’t seem to have the same surplus around So I have no idea how well this last one will sell or hold its value. The 1299 FE and this one be the last two end of an era bikes
here we go! We’ve been hearing this since about 2016 and we got the 959 corse, some plonkers being pulled
I’ll eat my hat! tbh I did wonder if they would make it 1000cc for the last iteration but now that the supersport bikes are restricted down so much there is no point. Maybe they have figured out how to make a V4 cost effective as a 750…. Can you imagine if they came back with a 750cc V4 ❤️❤️❤️
Dubbed the "698 Marianna", there are strong rumours Ducati plan to exploit the single cylinder platform into a semi faired sportsbike close to resembling the picture below. It will be unveiled at EICMA 2024 in November and possibly a sneek peek viewing at WDW2024 is on the cards. Nothing concrete as yet, but in essence, if it looks anything like the artists impression, I am sure it will sell like hotcakes.
they can’t replace the V2 with a single cylinder making 70hp!! That’s madness! No one is going to buy a £14-15k 70hp sportsbike
Not suggesting this is a replacement for the V2. Just an extension to the single cylinder platform. Perhaps not the best idea for me to have posted it here, in hindsight.
Wonder what will happen to the Super Sport model if they can the V2 configuration as they wont develop that anymore would they?
Think the whole V2 line will be phased out, with the supermono and a smaller capacity V4 to take up the mantle. Anyways its all speculation, I guess more will be revealed during WDW and EICMA
2027 MotoGP max engine capacity drops to 850cc. I think this is very likely to be behind the smaller capacity V4 thinking plus obviously emissions.
Not sure the 939 engine needs to produce the sort of performance that is one of the major issues with meeting emissions regulations. Plenty of middle weight V twins on the market, Suzuki, Aprilia and KTM to name 3 Andy
Hahahahhahahahahahhaha announced today! It’s another ‘special paint’…. Urgh Ducati you kill me… it’s no different to a Bayliss, infact I think I’d rather have a Bayliss and even they seem to be in plentiful supply
