Nice. I opted for local anesthetic and was allowed to watch the whole procedure when mine was done. It's fun watching everything move around as you move your thumb prior to it being sewn up.

My physio said, steroid injections only alleviate the pain, they do not cure the problem which was his justification for not giving me an injection in my torn meniscal cartilage. My consultant said, you are at the stage in your life where I’m happy to give you pain relief, despite the diminishing returns of multiple injections over time. The younger you are, the better the chance the relief you get from a steroid injection, leads to a longer term recovery if the problem has not gone too far. Tennis elbow is a prime example. I’ve had injection for tennis elbow, planter fasciitis, meniscal tear and damaged coccyx. The meniscal tear isn’t going to repair and my coccyx ended up being removed. I have not been trouble again by the tennis elbow or planter fasciitis. Some you win, some you lose Andy
I’m not to far off that operation, had an ultrasound guided injection back in April and two weeks later the tendon in the base of my thumb snapped the injection wasn’t to bad but the tendon snapping was of the scale, the arthritis in the thumb joint was bit by bit rubbing against the tendon and it’s non repairable but doesn’t effect the thumb movement,
Hi Keith The tendon in a knot is that the one at the base of the thumb, which can also be used as a graft for a damaged tendon in any of the other fingers.
Just received a Crampbuster type gadget as recommended by @Topolino, tried it out yesterday afternoon and it actually does seem to relieve some of the pain and discomfort, allowing my left palm to rest on it without excess strain being placed on my thumb joint...i'll see how i get on with it but early impressions are promising.
I had this injection into both rotary cuffs over the past few months. They said it would solve my shoulder issues for up to 10 years but right now, nothings changed and it should be good to go. Putting on a jacket overhead is still a bastard.
