Wsbk Round 5 - Donington (**spoiler Alert**)

Toprak won on the Yamaha three years ago it was only when Ducati stuck Alvaro on the v4r with his huge weight advantage that things clicked.
Not taking anything away from him but its hard to ignore the evidence thats there now.

For me it doesnt look like the extra weight itself is the problem because he's clearly quick once the race gets going, its setting the bike up and qualifying well and i would assume thats largely down to Ducati and where/how theyre managing that extra weight.

Definitely not something Alvaro's able to ride around though (s far) unlike Toprak and the disadvantages hes come up against on both the Yamaha and BMW.

 

They had an interview with him and Toprak (with Andys mate Mr Haines) at the weekend and Alvaro said to Toprak "I will stay in WSB next year if you do".

 

Its annoying that they dont show the whole race time on the results on WSB.com etc...anyone know what they were?
Id like to see what the times were compared to last season at Donny.
Alvaro, Toprak on the Yam and fastest Beemer specifically.
They mentioned them after Misano and itd be interesting to compare and see if theyre consistent.

It was a much longer race than it seemed at the time too…

 

I did some rough calculations based on Donny race 2 2023 v 2024 bearing in mind there was an extra lap this year i added another 1m27 as that's roughly what TR was lapping towards the end.

2023 (22 laps) winning time was 31m51.1s
2024 (23 laps) winning time was 33m11,6s

Toprak was 7 seconds faster than last years race winning time.
He was 16 seconds quicker than the fastest BMW in 2023
He was 9.6 seconds faster than the he was on the Yamaha
Alvaro was 20 seconds slower than last year

 

I make that roughly 3.65 seconds per bag of sugar over the course of a race lol.

Indeed. 20 secs slower when the rest of the field are improving their times tells you everything you need to know about the disadvantage he’s been handed out

 

I struggle to find any sympathy hes had that advantage too for the last two years.
