Hypermotard 1100 Indicator Dash Repeat

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by RFOZ, Oct 8, 2023.

  1. So, my bike has "Oxford" led indicators fitted - not my first choice but they're on there for now.

The indicator light on the dash does not illuminate when the indicators are on.

    Anyone know why?

    Thanks

  2. Which 1100…?

  3. 2008 S, though I did assume they'd all be the same.

  4. Had exactly the same problem with mine. Tried everything. Different indicators, resistors, just couldn’t get the dash ones to work. Although they worked at first so was a bit of a mystery. I ended up buying two small green led’s, wiring them into the front indicator wires & mounting each side of the dash cluster

  5. Missed this - well, the old 1100 has a different dash to the evo series...must confess ive not seen that before...

  6. Would appreciate some help with resistors please.
Can you please tell me what to buy and where to fit them?
I have changed the rear LEDs, now they're flashing over 120 flashes per minute. LED conversion from halogen had already taken place previously so I had asumed all was already in place

  7. You do know there’s a setting on the cluster for this?

  8. 1. with key off press the up toggle button on left hand switch.
    2. turn key on.
    3. press the up toggle button to switch between selections. once you reach "SEE INDIC" stop pressing buttons!
    4. press and hold the down toggle button for 5 sec. to enter the "SEE INDIC" menue.
5.once again press the down toggle button to change from "LAMP" to "LED".
    6. press and hold the down toggle button again for 5 seconds to save into "MEM".

    7. turn key off, then turn key on and check your LED indicator function.

I found this on another thread ... just tried it on my bike and couldn't find the SEE INDIC option
The toggle button on my cluster is up/down only ... there's no press function

  9. I think when it says press, it means up or down. Like you say there’s no press function.

  10. There's no SEE INDIC option when I cycle through the menu, as per manual:-
    RPM
    Battery voltage
    Lap on/off
    Lap MEM
    Clock set

  11. Are you sure you’re pressing the switch up with ignition off, holding it in that position & turning ignition on? Sounds like your just going through the normal menu.

  12. Spot on ... I was not holding the switch up as I turned the key.
That got me into the correct settings menu however, following the rest of the instructions I've found that it won't retain the LED setting, it reverts to LAMP every time. (The screen actually displays NEN rather than MEM at step 6, I assume that's the same thing. also it's not SEE but SEt)
I've followed the procedure 3 or 4 times now ... the indicators are still hyperflashing and the setting insists on staying at LAMP

Hmmmm .... looks like I'll need resistors, eh? Do you know what I should be getting?

  13. Ok. So I’m assuming you have standard front indicators & have changed to led rears?
If this is the case the dash will revert back to bulb because the standard front indicators are wired into the ecu as a bulb type…..think it’s 3.3w.
Your options are to install led front & rear, therefore the dash should hold the led setting or fit 85ohm 5W resistors in parallel on the rear

  14. Here's the thing ... the front indicators on the 2007 1100S are LEDs as standard. The rears were originally halogen bulbs but had been changed to LEDs by a previous owner. I've just switched out the rears to a different make because some of the little light units had failed (MOT advisory).

  15. Yes correct they are led’s but for some reason the ecu recognises them as bulbs & not led’s. Hence why keeping standard fronts & going aftermarket led rears confuses the ecu. Try aftermarket led’s on the front & the dash should select the led setting

  16. Sorry to muddy the waters but I've found that different value resistors flash at different rates....on my evo sp I've got 2 resistors fitted at the rear and each one covers the rear of each side....ive got a custom set of indicator/running lights in the handguards which don't need any resistors (not sure why) just didn't have to fit any...
