Spotted: Sheds

  1. Tbh, I think that misses the point, as eliminating power bands and gears also eliminates most of the skill and therefore most of the enjoyment of driving, which just becomes a point and squirt yawn-fest. Each to their own, though.

  4. I was just thinking the same.

  5. I know! That lawn is in a shocking state

  6. Those of us who are 'proper shed' aficionados would disagree, I entered this thread thinking it was about sheds, to discover that it was actually about sheds

  8. We will have to agree to disagree. I grew up doing Karting, did small amount of single seater but wasn’t good enough. Even in F1 and LMP changing gear is now a matter of lights and a paddle, it is not 1% of the skills top drivers have. The likes of Lewis Hamilton were excelling in karting without gears and I doubt they would say they were missing ‘most of the enjoyment of driving’. Similarly in all top classes I doubt they feel the paddle and auto clutch means they are missing out and driving is a ‘yawn-fest’ as a result. I certainly never yawned in a go-kart doing 80mph plus with my arse just off the ground. Nor did I ever ‘think this is boring, just wish I had a gear to change’. I can’t imagine how exciting the top go -karts must be at getting on for 150mph, all without any gear changes.

  9. Mate, no-one cares about your obsession with silent linear power delivery and being relieved of the burden of gear changes. As others have pointed out, the thread went off topic but is now back on track, so just shush. :upyeah:

  10. Ah resort to rudeness, the last resort of the less intelligent.

Anyway, have a shed you would like - dog slow 1.6 but has gears. Scarily this was local to me and the lad sold it for £2.5k!! Other side was worse with lots of filler/ fibreglass. Are they really going for this much money now?

  11. Surprised it was that little, look up escort Mexicos and rs1800s, saw an incomplete rs1800 ( about half was missing iirc ) at £30k

  12. Wow! Are even the base models making good money now? I knew the fancy ones were making strong prices but 2.5k for a 1.6 rotten as a pear seems a lot of cash.

  13. That’s a manifestly false statement. Agreeableness is actually negatively correlated with intelligence and there are many examples of very intelligent people who were incredibly cantankerous - Christopher Hitchens, Isaac Newton and Wolfgang Pauli are three that I can name off the top of my head. There’s even a saying: “He/she doesn’t suffer fools gladly”

One of my neighbours cleared a paddock out recently and found this underneath all the undergrowth
