Can anyone tell me what the paint code / name is for the wheels on a Ducati 998R please. It's silver but not sure which one i.e. Grigio Steel Ducati or Grigio Metallic. They should be the same as the frame. Many thanks
I've always known it to be gloss "Grigio Metallic Ducati" (PPG 291.601) Also worth mentioning to document for future forum searchers: the 996R and 998R are painted "Anniversario Ducati" (PPG 487.111) for the 75th anniversary of Ducati. Anniversario is a slightly brighter shade of red with a wee tiniest bit more orange in it compared to regular "Rosso Ducati" (PPG 473.101) when viewed out in the sunlight or a strong light source.
Good info, Alex. I thought that the new red came out in 2002 for the 998 series and the 996R had the older red. I need to go over my old notes…
...and please let me know if my research was wrong in this regard. I read it in period reviews and magazines I've bought off eBay from 2001. I think one of the books too. Perhaps other sources as well, I have so many now I can't remember lol. I'll need to begin citations on my site to keep track haha
I stand corrected then and I'll go back and see where I might have gone wrong. My source might have been incorrect whatever it was. UPDATE: I found that Ducati source I had seen, it was published on their website from Sept 2000 until sometimes in 2005. I have restored the page from The Internet Archive here: https://www.ducati996r.net/bikes/sb996R_part-accessories-id-406.html Anyone can go to archive.org and pull up the original for themselves, I have not altered any content.
