916 Pictures Of All 748/9**

  1. Hi Jack
What model is the v- piece off, is it carbon or black paint,

  2. It’s carbon fibre. Not sure of its provenance as no markings on it. The hugger is DP.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  3. Thanks for the complements. My 996 has been a work in progress over the last few years. I bought it as a small project that spiralled out of control and it ended up turning into a full restoration build.
Engine work consists of SPS lightened crankshaft, titanium rods, Pistal 14:1 pistons, ported heads, bigger valve, 748r inlet, T1 exhaust cams, 998 throttle bodies and a whole bunch of other supporting mods.
As far as a comparison with the 959 is concerned, I'm not sure, I have never ridden the 996. I will let you know tomorrow when I finally get to take it for a first ride:D

  5. Thanks for your reply Chris, your motor sounds really really tasty! Have you had some miles on it yet? I guess you're only doing break in duty on it at this point so haven't really rung it's neck properly yet ?
My motor is close to yours but you've taken it just that little bit extra that I haven't got to yet. I have a SS crank lightened and balanced to SPS spec, with steel Carillos and the more pedestrian Pistal pistons. I couldn't find the R2000s, I think they're called, that you've got. I've got SPS cams with standard heads and throttle bodies. Lightened clutch, primary gear and fly wheel, of course. I would like to take the final step of giving her more fuel and air with bigger valves, throttle bodies and airbox, as you've done. I've got the Akro 45/60mm exhaust and I feel like I'm not taking full advantage of the 60mm part of the equation with my current set up. Even though doing all that would probably only benefit high rpm running at the cost of durability.
I'm definitely curious to hear your impressions when you've had some proper miles on your new creation. Also, any dyno graphs or info about how you've got all this hardware tuned. I've got a BB (UM) 239 chip in mine, but due to lack of knowledgeable people in my area for this kind of work I haven't had it properly tuned yet. That being said, I'm pretty impressed with the BB239 for it's plug and play nature, especially once my cams were dialled to suit the chip (107/107).

  11. Looking forward to when I can get out on my 748, soon I hope,
What’s next or all done for now.

  12. All done for now. Next winter it’s cases off for paint and possibly a totally new paint job. Plus new brake and clutch lines. Can’t stand the gold anodised joints.

I managed to hang on to it (and the S2r) during my divorce, I just need to buy a new house now so I can get them both out of my friend's garage and ride them (after fixing the Monster's fuel pump wiring)

  16. Lovely paint job, jot sure about the single headlight conversion though

  17. Yeah, that has troubled me as well. There is in fact a proper light behind it which pleases the MOT tester, so might make that the final task returning her to binocular.

  18. Thats fucking beautiful. Its also the very bike that made me want to take up the motorcycles when i first saw one.
    Chapeau.:upyeah:
