Cable ties - my tried ans tested method of securing some luggage to a bike - trying it out for size here on the new bike.
Had an argument with the Mrs about dropping into Ducati South Africa. We’re going right past the door, I might never go past again in my entire life! Not only that, the exchange rate is 24Rand to the £. How can I not go in? Some days the difference between males and females is really apparent. She knows it could be expensive
Figuring out why my rgv250 had major driveline shudder last time on the track. Looks like wear to the anti judder washer. Which is ironic
Count yourself lucky! I go away for 3 weeks every summer to Malaga (as you know) and every year I get the same off the Mrs… why do you only wear Ducati T shirts? Don’t know why she asks this when every year I go to Ducati Malaga and Ducati Sevilla where the family are. Pretty obvious I’m only go to wear Ducati branded stuff as those are the only two real shops I go to!
Spent the day in the garage today troubleshooting this issue. On start up it just wouldn’t idle nicely, cutting in and out of one/two cylinders and basically running like shit. Suspected the horizontal cylinder so pulled the plug coil out. It ran smoothly on one so my assumption was correct. Note - do not touch a removed stick coil after it has been run….ZZZZAPP!! Ouch!! Removed plug (Champion RG59V surface discharge type) and it looked like shit. Checked service history and found, rather embarrassingly, that there was no evidence of any plug changes since January 2007! Took a plug out of track R ( NGK CR9EK non surface discharge) and bike idled ok. Just to check, put the coil from the track R on too and all seemed fine. Quick trip to Halfords to get a couple of new NGK plugs…All appears to be fine now. Will take it for a run tomorrow. Worst bit of the job? The absolute bastard Y connector for the fuel vent pipe at the front of the tank - what a lot of swearing occurred connecting that and getting the spring clip installed! Guilty pic of shitey old plugs:
Little test ride around the ring road - all good! Forgot what a pokey little beast this is - in fact, I’ve probably never known how pokey in the time I have owned it as the plugs would have been getting shitter and shitter! Well, who knew that a new pair of plugs would completely restore it - these should be a service item I’d say!
Went to Goodwood for breakfast, then took the bike for a proper spank. Did about 200 miles in the end.
