What Van?

  1. I would still go for RWD since you get a proper merc engine and gearbox rather than a renault option and 1000 uber taxi drivers cannot be wrong. Its basically the same engine/box as the sprinter with a lesser oil capacity. I understand your concern about soiling the drive I felt the same, having been driving 4x4s for 40 years I decided it was time for a change and to be honest I could not be happier, the 190hp auto makes a better tow car too than many of them. I am not sure on current values but you often see RWD ones for sale with over 500k miles and the current shape does not rust like early one.

  2. ok so here we go for target spec
    - L2
    - two side doors
    - rear windows
    - RWD
    - manual
    - grey, black or blue

am i missing anything? what do you think?

  3. VW T6 with 4Motion (4WD), DSG, 205bhp and lovely to drive.

  4. I agree there is more space in the T6 and the 4 motion works well but they are apparently real pig to work on when they do go wrong, then you've got the whole T6 van life culture thing going on, you have got to have concerns for what the neighbours might think. There again my Vito is black and my neighbours worry I have a new sideline as an undertaker, so on balance preferably grey or blue but I think you are about there.

  5. That is the L1 not L2, the L2 have enough space to store the rear wheel underneath, so more load space plus that's the renault FWD engine, I dont know anything about them, VAT on top too but it is in the ballpark.

  6. ok thanks
so what engines do i need to focus on? i get confused with all the numbers and blah blah
youve been a massive help so thanks

  7. I think it is 112, 116, and 119 which roughly equates to 120, 160 & 190hp this was for the old 2.1l engine, i believe they have been 2.0l for the past couple of years but same numbers and nominaly the same power/torque. the 119 is only automatic, but as with anything merc there is a myriad of options but not many commercials have a/c if you need it.

  8. excellent thanks

  9. its a private sale and just spoke to the bloke he sounds very sensible and im gonna buy it

  11. I’ve got a T6 T32 high line combi, Euro 6. It’s a 150hp diesel. Its twin side door, hatch boot and it’s carpeted out so can be used as a day van.

I’ve been on the fence about selling it for a while tbh

  12. Looks tidy enough, that's actually the L2 version so at least there is room for the spare wheel underneath - go for it!

  13. Yeah, that definitely looks like the L2! Bonus!!

  14. my only challenge with the L2 is whether its big enough for 2 bikes one of which could be an MX bike

  15. Length wise no problem for 2 bikes. I had a KTM SDR (tall bike) and went in no bother with the mirrors folded down.

  16. I’ve had 2 enduro bikes and riding gear in my LWB Vito, they’re plenty big enough for your needs. Pity you are so far away I would have nipped round with my ramp and you could see that they’d fit.
