  1. I did post a follow up post, saying that link didn't work, and posted another link which does work

Also, I posted pics in this thread of the before and after brackets

The link below does work, it is the correct item, i have fitted this on my 916 and my 996

  2. Thanks very much :upyeah: that link has worked for me so I'll get one ordered up.

Is it literally just a matter of swapping? And is the existing item easy enough to remove?

    Thanks for the link :):upyeah:

Just need to figure out what I need to do to prevent leaning over so far on the stand!

  3. Yes, side panel off, 2 bolts for the bracket, the hardest part is removing and refitting the 2 springs, then bolt it back on, refit the panel

  4. Ordered! Many thanks Robert :):punch:

  5. Probably showing my age and/or ignorance here but what the hell is a suicide stand?
And why would you want a stand with that kind of name?!

  6. It's one which retracts itself when you bring the bike up straight off it, rather than have to kick it up yourself.

  7. Take off one spring end at a time. Much easier than both together. Same for putting back on. Also use a spring puller and wear safety glasses. Just in case.

  8. Presumably the suicide part comes in when you’re putting it down.
    Sod that tyvm

  9. Give me the 'manual' option, any day.

  10. It will only stay down with the weight of the bike on it, as soon as you straighten the bike up and remove the weight it flies up.

  11. if people can't master this simple mechanism albeit one that moved the goalposts from "the norm", then don't ever drive a car with a fly-off handbrake, and I would say do not attempt an engine rebuild either.;)

  12. Yep, can't recall ever having had a problem with mine

  13. In fact, isn't it an ' anti suicide ' stand, stops you riding off with side stand down and catapulting you into the road ?

  14. Yep, seen it done too

  15. Everyday's a school day. I have a 1987 XBR500 and I've always wondered what that bit of rubber was for!

  17. Saw a tv feature on that once, a veritable Honda Aladdin's Cave.

  18. Nothing wrong with the multistrada system of you cant put the bike in gear with the stand down, it cuts out.

  19. I don’t think suicide side stands were uniquely Ducati, as Laverda’s and Guzzi’s were similarly blessed with these devices, so possibly mandated by the Italian govt simply to increase GDP at the time…..

  20. Increase GDP? As in more sales of LHS panels and associated breakable bits ?
