V4 Electric/keyless Fuel Filler Cap Install

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Eugen, Dec 17, 2021.

  1. The cap fitted to my 1200 DVT always did give a message if the cap wasn't closed properly when the ignition was switched back on after a fill up. As you say - nice feature.

  2. Never noticed that on mine…

  3. You must have always shit the filler cap fully before turning on the ignition - unlike me :)

  4. Personally I just shut mine…

  7. Help!
Would anyone have the charcoal canister evaporation hose part that bolts onto fuel cap. I broke mine, unfortunately with too much pressure. Any help would be appreciated..

  8. Anyone install this fuel cap on a V4 Rally?

  9. yep, I took the cap off my 1260 enduro and fitted it to my rally.
The only difference is the centre tube is longer.
Look for recent posts by me as i posted pictures.

It is real easy to do, you don't need to lift the tank or anything, just remove the cap surround (clips on) and the left cubby surround. Make sure you tuck the connector out of the way when trying to put the cubby back in, there isnt much room between it and the front of the tank above the cables.
    Hope that helps.

  10. If you check the Ducati Accessories page they normally have fitting instructions on there. Check “Downloads” at the bottom of the page. I just took my electronic cap off my V4S and fitted it to my Rally. The connector isn’t tucked away so neatly on that due to the tank being different.

(For some reason they don’t read that well on an iPad)

  11. I have a 2024 V4S GT with the keyless cap. A month or so back, I got an email (below) from Ducati stating that there was an update to allow the cap to be opened with the ignition on but the engine off. It took the dealer a long time to find the update, but they finally did, and it's so much better. When I refuel, all of my accessories (CarPlay device, phone charging, etc) stay powered up! Not sure if the update can be applied to other years/models, but next time you have your bike in, ask them about it. :)

    --- From the email ---
Opening the electric cap even when the ignition is on

The electric cap can be opened even when the ignition is switched on (with the engine off), making refuelling operations easier.
    Automatic ignition switch-off function

To preserve the state of charge of the battery with the engine off, the ignition is automatically switched off if the battery voltage falls below a minimum threshold (approx. 12V) or after 20 consecutive minutes of the ignition being left on with engine off.

This optional update will be at no cost to consumer if carried out as part of a scheduled maintenance.

  12. Just pinged my local dealer to see if this is available on the 1260. Thanks!

  13. My dealer had no idea. It's no fault of theirs—they didn't receive any info on the update and searched but couldn't find it (they even showed me the screen for my VIN). They finally plugged it into the computer (it didn't show any updates needed), so they had to look through the 'optional updates' (I'm not sure what it's called).
