Hope This Isn’t Anyone On Here

  1. My brother lives near Derby and it’s been a bad day for bikers there.
Bad news no matter if they were on here or not.

  2. Too sad... So sorry for all concerned, especially the families.

  3. Just unbelievably sad.

I love the peaks, it is such a draw for people from nearby major cities, these fatalities will give the anti motorcycle brigade more ammunition for restricting limits and pressurising the police to being more active.

  6. That is just awful news :(
    Thoughts to all involved

  7. Awful. Unbelievable amount of people on motorbikes meeting their end. This is the kind of thing that scares the hell out of my Mrs. Makes me wonder too.

I guess proper details will emerge but 3 bikes? Sounds like someone pulled out of a junction.

I’ve got to say riding a motorbike in this country is becoming more and more dangerous. I saw figures the other day and think I’m right in saying it’s averaging 1 fatality EVERY day!!!!!!

  8. The plod were definitely clamping down on groups of riders round our way yesterday. Suspect the recent fatalities we’ve all read about are precisely why.

    RIP to all involved. Heartbreaking.

  9. Road riding with a fast bike is very dangerous. Whenever I had a blast through the twisties or had a maddie on a motorway, chest down FOT, I’d ask myself questions afterwards. It was the self loathing and 5 day wait (for a NIP) that made me quit road riding.

RIP to all the poor buggers involved. Awful.

  10. Awful, awful news, and very sad for the families.

However, yet again it comes after a sunny weekend when I've seen some utterly stupid riding on the roads around here.
Pottering along the A32 on my 999 at the speed limit behind a queue of traffic between average speed limit cameras there was almost a constant stream of sports bikes going past with no regard to blind bends or traffic coming the other way.
I was forced to move over as another bike had to dive into my space at the last minute to avoid traffic coming the other way and had I not reacted quickly he'd have actually side swiped me.
It wasn't a Ducati, but if you are on here the reluctant lifting of your hand to acknowledge you're a moron isn't going to keep you alive.

I also did a trip both ways across the A272 from Petersfield to Crawley towing a big twin axle Boat trailer and had the same experience with lots of bikes.
I'm sorry, but a lot of these guys have it coming, and my sympathy is with the innocents who's lives are affected through the stupidity of others.
It also annoys me that it's Morons like them that are the face of motorcyclists Joe Public and authority remember.

  11. I completely agree. Riding in this country is losing its shine for me. The state of the roads, the driving standards, average speed cameras popping up on country lanes, the police asking people to send in dashcam footage really is taking the fun out of it all. If I didn't do the Euro trips on the bike, I'd pack it in, if I'm honest.

  12. And no mention of other vehicles being involved ... so sad but people do ride WAY too fast ... I know it's fun, until it isn't.

  13. 2 accidents in the Buxton area with 5 motorcycle fatalities on Sunday.

1 of the accidents saw 3 men in their 50s die at the scene, all were apparently riding Ducatis according to Derbyshire Police. This comes 1 week after an accident on the Snake Pass killed 2 motorcyclists.

Hopefully no one from the site is impacted, deepest condolences to any who are.

Remember people its all about getting home safe, be careful out there.

  15. there's been at least three Ducati riders killed in the month of July up ths way. two not v,far from me a 39 year old bloke, a 29 yr old woman and a lil further away a fella in his 50s. one of the worst years in a long time where it normally peaks in August.

  16. Terribly said for all involved what ever the reason, I was in that part of the country a few months back midweek. Weather was wet so not much on the roads, I said to myself I wouldn't want to rider there on a hot sunny weekend as I bet its crazy with bikes mixing it with cars, anytime i hear of a death it makes me question myself and owning a bike especially a superbike : /

  17. Terribly sad news.
